...where do all the write offs and old bikes go? I'm sure that the insurance companies must still sell them to someone.

There is a local breaker (or two) near here, but the one business (Genius Spares) is demonstrating massive stupidity in refusing to sell via Ebay. I think you will find that the breakers are still out there, but selling via Ebay shops. IMHO this is a good thing because you can find the part you need, instead of traipsing around breakers looking for a part for a bike they may never have broken.

However, I agree that the internet experience isn't the same as having a good rummage through the stock. Mind you I've still got some right old tat here because "it looked interesting" at the time ::)

I'm not saying a word !

Having worked in Major Dealerships for nearly 25 years and having an MOT licence for several of those years.
I have noticed the difference in customers(type and attitude),the way the manufacturers tell the dealerships how its to be done and the rules and regulations to go with it all.Because of all this the type and attitude of person working in the motorcycle trade has changed a lot aswell.
Its all going one way....large corporate buissness and maybe small back street shops. If the small man can afford to buy and use plug in diagnostics for the latest machines.
I can see it from both sides of the fence.

Bugger I did say something !

Riders Cardiff( I detested working there !) is not a Harley dealer but do stock second hand machines, and service Hardleys.  The new ones are usually brought in for delivery to local customers and test rides for prosective.
