What a funny morning
« on: June 26, 2010, 11:06:14 AM »
My car insurance renewal from Direct Line arrived this morning quoting £300 for the Previa. Egad, I thought, that is crazy. So off to comparethemarket I went & did the business. Here is the funny bit, the quotes have come in cheaper if I choose fully comprehensive insurance rather then TPFT!  >:(  How does that work? I renewed the bike insurance earlier this month and dropping to TPFT saved a fortune. So why is it reversed for a car?

Not sure if this thread should be in rants, humour, or is correctly placed in chatter?  ;D

Copy and paste it in the other two as well. That way you won't offend anyone and we can have a laugh about it.

Odd that. When I renewed my insurence on the XBR last year with Bennets I found it only cost me about £7-8 more for fully comp than TPFT! Car too as i recall.  In the past I've found that, say, Bennetts will give you a good quote for new business but after a couple of years it creeps up so if you then go to, say, Carol Nash they will greatly undercut them for the new business! Hence I change companies every couple of years!

That game has got silly. I change every year now, it's usually at least £30 worth of new customer discount which on a £150 policy is mad.

How much are you lot paying on insurance?
I've had my licence 10 months and I'm on £260 for my XJ600 Diversion and £51 for the XBR500 TPFT through Simply Insurance. The XJ600 was insured on a chassis number as it was on Italian plates when I bought it.

I was paying £266 with Carole Nash for a multibike policy. I recently had a quote for basic fully comp on an XBR for £76.

£56 TPFT for an MT-03 in Souff Lundon via Bennetts. I let my previous policy expire with Bennetts and then took out a "new business" one with them over the internet. By far the cheapest way to do that.

Some insurance companies quoted £70 for a new policy for the SRX with zero no claims
