Just thought I'd ask
« on: June 01, 2010, 12:42:14 PM »
I'm interested in an Enfield Bullet rolling chassis or, at least, a frame and swingarm. If anyone gets a lead on such an item can they let me know?

It almost goes without saying that it has to be cheap(ish)  ;) :D

Cheers

Steffan kindly let me offer up a set of XBR crankcases to his Enfield's chassis a little while ago. It was at the time that SimonM was looking for a new bike and mentioned liking Enfields. I got to thinking about how good an Enfield with a modern motor would be (if you can call a 20 year old XBR motor modern).

Anyway, first impressions were that it would be a good fit and everything lined up quite well. It would be nice to go one step further and have a more detailed attempt at mating up the two.

Of course if it works then there's no hassle at all in fitting a 650 Dominator lump into the frame  ;)

I seem to remember an article in Classic Bike (?) some years ago where a chap had put an XBR engine in a Brit 250-350 single rolling chassis - looked pretty good as I remember. It would make an interesting project GC but you might want to upgrade the brakes! (unless it's one of the newer ones of course)

Now an XBR engine in the Enfield Cafe Racer chassis would be really tasty!!

Growing old is inevitable, growing up is optional!

I've got that article kicking around here somewhere, I think it was a Matchless chassis. He said it was funny doing wheelies at club events  :D  That fella went the whole hog and had a alloy flying 'M' on the generator cover.
