MT03 and bonkers 450
« on: May 25, 2010, 07:37:55 PM »
At the recent Cardiff Classic show I got the chance (my first) to sit on a Yamaha MT03. I really like the looks of the bike, but, as is often the case, it felt a tad cramped for my 6 foot frame.

However there was one other little single there that also felt cramped but promised to be a huge amount more fun:

This is a little 450 racer based on the frame and engine of a KX450 motocrosser donor bike. The racer kit costs about £5,000, but what a neat little thing you get at the end of it. Apparently this sort of thing is being talked about as the replacement for the 125 strokers in GP.

I sat on the bike and the lack of weight was the most noticeable thing. It felt like you were on a bicycle. Can you imagine what a hoot that would be on a twisty road?

125s to be replaced with 250 4S singles - already lapping as quick as the 125s.  Some stuff about keeping the costs down that I cannot remember, and about making it fun to keep people away from MotoGP2.  So could be fun - Just why did they not go 250 single / 500 twin / 1000 four rather than 250 single / 600 four / 800 four?
