I spose it depends where you come from. My parents used both versions. There is even a drinking song,

"Ein Prosit, ein pro-----osit der gemuedlichkeit" I think one is for clinking of steins with freinds (Prost) and a general taost, (prosit), I'll have to ask a German...

Hmmm interesting, after a (very) quick bit of reading, "Prost, from the latin Prosit, used as a toast in German"
So it seems we are both correct, my apologies, and, as I have a glass of rather nice red here, Prost!
