Neat item

I spent Friday lining my brother's VW camper van with some neat lining 'cloth'. Now I'm guessing that any of you that have a car background will know about this stuff, but my brother and I grew up biking so we hadn't come across it before.

The material is, in appearance, exactly like the carpet of your modern car's footwell and boot. It is interesting because it isn't elastic, but does stretch. If you press your thumb into it the resulting bulge stays in the material and doesn't pull back. You stick up using spray contact adhesive and it's a doddle to pull around curves and contours. The end result is a very professional looking carpeted finish.

At £4 a metre it's hardly expensive and I am now kicking myself for all the times I've tried lining sidecars, etc, with carpet.

Just to make you all sick he started with an £800 van that was badly converted but came with a TV, fridge, new awning and cooker. He spent £500 on a new high level roof and anticipates spending a further £1500. At the end of all that it should be worth £6,000 at the very least. He's a git  ;)

and appreciating apparently....but at least they use it...most weekends in the summer they are off camping....locky bu55ers.

It's not even a 'Brick' let alone a bay or splitty. It's an X reg T4 Transporter, the current surfie's van of choice.

Even 'Bricks' are getting too expensive these days. Mind you if you want a 'Bay' then you can buy them new again fully camperised for about £24,000 (eek!).
