Winter builds
« on: January 16, 2010, 10:56:10 AM »
Any of you lot stuck into an interesting winter build?

Steve H - is your spoked SRX going to be making more appearances this year?

Dave K - will the 'BSA' DR be ready for summer?

Pat - What state is the XBR in?

My only project is building up my XBR sidecar bike back into a neat little chair puller. I've picked up a nice saddle for it and I'm contemplating fitting the Powerbronze full fairing I've got stashed in my garage rafters. I will also be fitting my 650 motor back into it.

Hmmm similar  :-\ My only "winter builds" are the continuing repairs to the Skorpion after t's electrical drama (hopefully collect it today) and getting the XBR outfit back on the road after the plug change that turned into a top end strip and build  >:( :-X
I'm also hoping to find a way to fit the rest of the powebronze fairing onto mine (also currently residing in the garage loft!)
The only other project I've found time for is to work on fitting gucci led hazard flashers as described elsewhere on the forum. Oh and hoping the various projects aren't in too many bits if/when we get an offer on the house  :o (yet more viewers coming round shortly...)

 Winter rebuild!

If anyone's interested!  I have a virtually complete rolling chassis in top condition for sale which is/was a Kawasaki ZXR250 & had a Honda Dominator engine in it before being removed & sold, so another Honda similar engine will obviously fit (as will many others as there is a lot of room in the engine bay?)

It consists of  Frame & Swingarm (bearings good)
                    Refurbished upside down forks
                    Rear 18" wheel (new bearings)
                    Brand new Hagon rear shock
                    Excellent chain & sprockets (alloy)
What looks like an altered (for racing?) sub frame in good condition
                    New head bearings
                    Std clip ons
17" front wheel + good tyre (new bearings)
HARRISON BILLET (unused) 6 pot caliper with new pads
                    Single front PFM disc
                    Petrol Tank
+ other bits & pieces (including race fairings if wanted?)

I would like this to go in one lot (it would make an excellent road bike with work!)  but if no response quickly, I will break it & sell seperately.

So be quick before I break it...... ;D                    offers over £350 please asap....07930916509

Only my DR/SR hybrid still on the go.

Should have a new top yoke soon enough, and the bodywork is in limbo right now.

I have an attic room in my loft and its full of children. Maybe, I could sell some of the kids on eBay and buy a prefab garage to stick in the attic room? It would be lovely and warm for working on the bikes!

Winter builds. Still collecting bits for my SRX400E to get it working properly again. Today I failed miserably again to send off the CV slide to get a new diaphragm fitted. That, and the rusty tank, are all that's really holding up the rebuild.

Still slowly getting the SuMo 750 together, thats a DR750 engine/ Morini 350 frame and all sorts of other stuff. The Aprilia RS650 build has ground to a halt and the Guzzi is still waiting to happen. Loads of time since being made redundant, but cash has evaporated. I'll get around to doing some pics one of these days as well.

Is that a Jawa with an MZ engine in the background of the photograph ?
Note to Self: Shiney side goes UP.

XBR isn't going too well I'm afraid :'( Hopefully in Feb I can re-unite the bottom half of the motor with the chassis, but that's likely to be it for a while. March has me starting the kitchen extension and as I'm building it myself all my spare time will be occupied until Mrs Squirrel signs off the project.

Still like to get my hands on that tank you thought you had though. Did you get my PM? I'm starting to think you've changed your mind, it has been about 4 months now. Let me know either way. Cheers.

Steve H - is your spoked SRX going to be making more appearances this year?

The plan, assumming it was needed, was to get the SRX sorted for the Stafford show in April. I was going to put the engine back together over the Christmas break but for some reason the gudgeon pin was too long and I need to get it shortened. The snow has put paid to me progressing it any further.
