Weekend debrief
« on: November 15, 2009, 05:55:58 PM »
Saturday spent mostly on escort duties, guiding two children and their nanny around town. Agent 'Civil' called around to drink coffee and talk about staff vehicles in afternoon. CO and I had a spiffing meal in the evening at neighbouring barrack's mess.

Sunday saw early departure of CO and the rest of the day was spent dans la garage carrying out some long overdue maintenance on two of the staff vehicles. Rostered for guard duty tonight so pass for visit to local hostelry has been pulled  :(

Friends Daughter got married in Whitchurch Baptist CHapel - her Dad married her!

Afternoon and evening at said wedding reception in the Village Hotel.  Stay over night with SWMBOand back to see how Minor Keys had survived the babysitter - or was it the other way about?

Picked up my new (old) bike Friday.

Saturday went out on my new bike and got drenched.

Today fitted rack, canvas bags and handlebar end mirror to my new bike then went out on my new bike and got wet.

Always had a hankering for a 500 Enfield and one became available only up the road in Lampeter so I had to have it. Not everyones ride but it's making me smile.

Luckily I didn't get a reply to an email requesting some info on a GB500 that was for sale or I wouldn't have had any cash left to buy it. :)

Mine was pretty quiet:
Saturday - not very nice weather so tool the singlespeed mountain bike out for a spin before a mega tyre/wheel changing session involving 5 bikes.
Sunday - nicer so did a longer ride on the mountain bike (a geared one this time). Started the XBR later and took it for a brief spin.

Nice weekend really, all family stuff.

Sunday went to cafe and met up with some chums.

Sadly discovered that an old friend has passed away following a heart attack on Monday, aged 52.

Spent Sunday afternoon in the garage and made real progress on the 11 and replaced a rear mudguard on the Rs. ready for it's annual visit to Llanthony.Outside chance that I may take the 11 but I'm not rushing.

Rob.

Starting Friday pm (I finish at 2 on Fridays):

Took the PDIL's (Prospective Daughter-In-Law) wee Yam SR125 for it's MOT - all clear, no advisories or nuffink - woohoo!  Heavy clutch (cable's just about had it) and bloody slow (saw 60 on a long downhill incline) - any tips on getting a wee bit more out of the mill?  'Eat less pies' is not a valid response!  Drop the gearing so it can rev out in top, maybe?

Saturday took SWMBO to see 2012 - that's 3 hours of my life I won't see again.  Big effects, teeny-weeny plot, crap science - John Cusack must be needing money, is all I can say.

Sunday - crawling around underneath SWMBO's RAV4 - dodgy handbrake traced to pinged off springy thing on the shoes - fingers crossed it's all OK now and won't ping again.  Tracked down a tacho cable (for Guinevere the GN) and a clutch cable (for the SR) on the devil's own auction site.  Oh yeah, dug out the Santa Suit to check it's OK for the upcoming Dundee Bikers Toy Run (Saturday 5th Dec, meet at Scotriders from 11:30 on - ride out at 1pm).

Finished off with some Dr Who and Top Gear - after the watershed so they might get a bit naughtier now (we hope).

Mountain biking in the rain on Saturday morning (stupid), took my son to see Nine Below Zero saturday evening. Kids took part in Scouts swimming gala on Sunday, followed by Dr Who in the evening.

It was a good evening all part of the Tenby Blues Festival. My son enjoyed Abertillery Blues Festival earlier in the year so I thought we give this one a go.

Saturday went up to the castle to watch some people firing guns then tested various hostelries for nice drinks with some chums. As far as I can remember the drinks all passed the taste test  ;D

Sunday failed miserably to go diving, despite 100+miles of driving and getting swmbo's car stuck in a ditch!  :o :-X

Today, work, and what a ***** ****** day it was! I have been cursed with one of the worst managers I have ever suffered under and today was worse even than his usual  >:( >:( >:(
Fortunately an aggressive ride home with AC DC in the headphones brightened things up considerably  :) Biking as therapy, it should be on the NHS!
