Stupidest way to lose your licence?

To my shame this story involves a Welsh lad, what a dolt!

"A 17-year-old has been banned from driving for a year after he was caught doing 4mph on a pavement while drunk in a carriage for disabled people."

A year's ban! I bet he feels like an idiot.

Seems excessive considering the drivers that kill people in their cars due to drunken or reckless driving are often almost 'let-off', much to the disgust of most sensible people.

Agreed, but that's a thread diversion that we don't want to be following up on, the subject is just too depressing. How often do you read about a 6-month ban and five points being the only punishment for a driver who has a killed someone? Pah! >:(

Now this is very strange......probably before you young shavers were born.....a bloke called Clive Sinclair made a vehicle, a 3 wheeled affair with pedals and battery power...called a C5 (see here > http://www.sinclair-research.co.uk/c5/index.php )

now.....shortly after this wonderfully useless vehicle went on the market.....a somewhat pished hooray henry rode one home from a party in knightsbridge (can't have been far....the bluddy things had a pi55 poor range)...only to be aprehended by plod and charged.....when it came to court it was thrown out...it was deemed that, as a licence was not required to operate it, then you couldn't lose it.....i think he was charged with drunk and disorderly.

Much the same as I suggested when a biker caught for the (undoubtedly stupid) 160ish on the A702 was, despite the judge pointing out he was mainly a danger to himself rather than others, given a NINE MONTH custodial jail sentence as well as a hefty ban... :o
Now go look up what a footballer/politician/lawyer(!) with a good lawyer gets when they get pi**ed and crash 2 tonnes of luxury car in a residential area, or indeed gets caught at similar speed... ::)
