How to lose 4.5 inches!
« on: October 12, 2009, 07:50:54 PM »
Easy.

Take one 'Wilderbeast' motorcycle, my MT-03, with its daft handguards (look at this http://www.thumperclub.com/photos/2009/thumper4abfbce076a0d.jpg to see what I mean)
and take them off! It now looks less like a Wildebeest as it appears to have lost its horns. Honestly, it is now 4.5 inches narrower across the bars which is handy as the bars are very wide on their own! Hey, I might be able to start doing some filtering through traffic on it....but I bet it will still behave like its namesake ;D

Yup. Tomorrow, when its perched precariously on its paddock stand minus its rear wheel. Actually if its sunny, I may do a few more pictures of my shy and retiring beast.

Funnily enough I've gone the other way. Fitted some 36" wide cowhorns to the VX along with some Viper bark busters! Still filtering down the M4 mind with no accidents to date. Getting a hankering for some feet forward rests and a chicken bar too.

OH NO! WHAT'S HAPPENING TO ME???? Someone get me a leather waistcoat and a fake ponytail! ;D

I'm showing my ignorance of all things custom. What are Viper bark busters and chicken bars?

Talking of 36 inches, I'll measure my bars out of curiosity and we can compare lengths.  :D

viper bark busters are the hand guards fitted to motoX bikes (made by viper) and a chicken bar is a backrest thingy for your pillion passenger.

The joke's kinda gone off now :-[

I've only ever heard the backrests called 'cissy bars'.

Yes GC you are quite right but us bad bottom bikers tend to spell it sissy bar. I think Squrriel is getting his chicken strips in a twist, mind VX800s like big big ones( fnar fnar gimble gimble )

I suppose the bark busters are to ward off the shards from the cagers mirrors?  The "Viper" bit makes them sound tough enough to put on a Vee twin.

They are a dual purpose German invention, for busting the vind screen vipers and hitting the doggies who chase the bike in der teeth...

Hummm have heard of a gay bar and a transvestites bar, but a sissy bar?  Would they not be too scared to ask for a drink?
