I have been talking to Mortons over the last few weeks and this morning they rang to say they have had a cancellation and asked me to provide a stand at the Classic Mechanics show at Stafford in October. Somewhat bizarrely it's almost exactly where we always used to be on the balcony.

What this means for members is the chance to get in for free if they bring along a bike to show. This means turning up on Friday evening or early Saturday morning and leaving the bike on the stand until Sunday afternoon (you can leave mid Sunday afternoon if you can't wait until the 4.00 finish).

If you can only bring a bike for one day then that might be ok.

In the past we have camped onsite, but that's not obligatory.

The benefit for us is free entry and camping and a nice weekend surrounded by interesting bikes and a massive autojumble.

As for the stand, all offers of help gratefully accepted, but you wouldn't be committed to staying on the stand. At Uttoxeter we used the stand as a sort of show base and came and went, which worked well.

Obviously this is all very last-minute so quick responses would be appreciated.

There will be extra tickets available for members not bringing bikes, but these can't be handed out until all the other details have been sorted.

This event clashes with SteveD's bash at Dent and for this I apologise. I have PM'd Steve about this (how many beers do I owe that man now?  :o)

Before the shitstorm starts ( ;)) the purpose of the club stand will, on this occasion, be ostensibly to advertise the website. The main reason for attending is, imho, to enjoy being at the show, which is a blinding event.

Sorry Graham, I have a date with a proctologist [my new best friend] on the monday morning following that weekend. This requires some rather strict dietary conditions on the Sunday. I may be able to pop over on the Saturday or even Friday evening to help with the stand but would not be in a position to leave my bike on the stand. This is also my excuse for not going to Dent. I do intend however to be at Tibbieshiels in November. Mart.

Just got to check with SWMBO, but I should be able to bring the SRX over to Stafford for the weekend, if that's OK.

TJ63 - that would be great, cheers. Can you PM me your machine details (reg, etc.) and i can send them on to Mortons. Even if you don't manage to get there at least I've given them something.

Mart - sorry to hear about diet woes for the weekend... no slimy burger wagon fare for you then  ;)
I'm keen on getting to Tibbieshiels too, to the extent that I may defer selling my CB500  until after the event to ensure that I've got wheels to get there.

Cheers

That is not the gay proctologist with no arms of Larson fame is it?

Remember that wonderful old Latin saying - "Post hoc ergo procto hoc."

Sods Law !

Just recieved my ticket through the post.
But having said that I do intend purchasing quite a few heavy items, and carrying them on a bike might prove to be awkward.

Ontop of that got a lot on my plate at the moment so a weekend away might not be the best thing to do just yet......not until November anyway  ;)

Things gather pace, We have an offer of a lovely SRX to show and another TCer has agreed to let me take one of his nice GB500s along too.

Anyone else want to show any bikes?
