Happy bunny
« on: August 18, 2009, 04:41:41 PM »
Just won (?) my second VX ebay bargain and am chuffed to bits. Previously I got a front wheel complete with spindle, spacer, speedo drive and a half decent continental tyre for 99p and now I've got a petrol tank for the same amount. Have to collect both bits but the wheel was only 5 miles up the road (tank's in lincolnshire).

I suspect the tank will need some corrosion repairs in the same places mine has leaked from, but I have time now to get it fuel tight properly with a bit of welding.

Totally chuffed and looking forward to a rideout to collect it.

Pat, where in Lincolnshire have you got to go?  I'm near Sleaford, if it's not too far away I may be able to pick it up for you and I'm going on holiday to Tenby 12 September and I could take to Abergavenny Bus station where we stop for a break it that would help ?   If not and you're in the area give me a call and drop in for a cuppa.

Stamford is 20 miles from me. If  he needs it out of the way and you cant make it to collect I could collect and hold for you. Or could pressure wash it and post.

Similar thing happened to me, I put a speculative £5 bid at the start of the auction that went on at 99p but there were no other bids so it went for 99p.  However the seller had sent me an email 1 minute before the end of the auction saying he had withdrawn it!  Not really playing the game!. Needless to say he got negative feedback ( i didn't really follow it up as I wasn't that bothered about the item).

The guy was probably pi55ed off at only getting 99p for his tank but thats how it goes. He should have put a reserve on it!  >:(

Also not allowed to withdraw once the time to go has gone under 24 hours

Mind so many things are sniped in the last few seconds he may have been throwing away a really stout bid.

Two scrotes between them

Yes Mixerman Bill's already told me about it. I'm watching it but expect it will be out my price range. Thanks for the tip off though.

O dear oh dear oh dear Squirel.

Starting to sound like me and my quest to purchase a second XBR in bits via eBy  ;)

As my wife said to me recently, in front of my mother-in-law I hasten to add, 'what's that pile of tubes sitting against the garage wall'?

As I explained to her it was a 'second frame for my XBR should I ever damage the original, it was an eBay bargain after all'  ;)

Sounds like your'e already on the slippery slope my friend ;D
