Sitting indoors
« on: May 23, 2009, 02:53:33 PM »
well I hope all you other beggars are out and revving. As for me I am in the Uni Library working on my dissertation. Yes that's right, the self same one of Dragon fame, as the song goes, "somethings don't come easy..." - especially in my line of country; or would "I can't get no satisfaction" be more apt. In the end it's likely to be a case of "Dirty deads done dirt cheap" but hey I content myself that come time to head off to the Isle I will be finished. So here's hoping you're all having a great time and it's back to the millstone for me. And no it ain't around my neck - although it feels that way sometimes.

Geeeze Steff, how often do you sit in doors? Well maybe a revolving door, but otherwise it would be a door way.... ooops, OH  you mean indoors.  aha ...sorry.

Not yet. Still thinking about where I'm going to go, given I've got Monday and Tuesday off.

And why have I been in work during the best weather for ages.  Stuck working 16 hour shifts when I could be putting the Beemer together ready for the TT.

Not fair (sulk, sulk).

Photo looks very like Wales.

Hey Steff, looks like your riding season over there could be improving... in Perth we had 4 degrees C this am and some wild storms over the weekend, could be slowing down our riding a bit. Bonus, it may remove some of the 50 cc buzzbombs off the main roads.
SE QLD /Nth Coast NSW is under water during the worst drought for a long time, wierd weather.

Not yet. Still thinking about where I'm going to go, given I've got Monday and Tuesday off.

Decided where to go on my days off (Skye, Harris, Lewis and the far north-west of Scotland) however my bikes had other ideas. Set off on my Deauville only to notice blue smoke coming from the exhaust when on the over-run, so returned home. Took my CBR out for a borders spin this afternoon, which went well until the chain let go on the way home. Two days, two broken bikes - not ideal...

Only remaining road bike is the XBR (although the Deauville is still actually riding fine despite the smoke) however SWMBO has banned me from going out to play on it tomorrow...

I managed some proper two-wheeled riding this weekend. We set off for a weekend family camp at the site we use near Crickhowell, Sue with the kids and gear in the car, me on the trusty CB500.

The ride up was a laugh given that I've barely ridden a solo for years now. I didn't use the bike all weekend because I spent the time with the kids. It was Monday afternoon before I got back in the saddle and I had a belting ride back via some tortuous Welsh backroads. Finally managed to get rid of the previous owner's massive 'chicken strips'.

I got down to a campsite in Newgale by the City of St Davids for a couple of nights, me and the wife on our bikes enjoying the scenery and back roads up to Cardigan and back.

On Monday went to the Medeival Village near Penarth to watch my brother in law fooling around as a Greek Hoplite in his reinactment set.

A good weekend.

May get up to Llanthony this weekend before I go over to Normandy on Monday for a week taking in the 65th D-Day Anniversary.

Sounds like a good trip, how are you managing for accommodation? I imagine it's going to be chokka.

My favourite Normandy hotel was a place above a raunchy bar and it appeared that most of the rooms had permanent residents, judging by the names alongside the individual bell buttons in the foyer. The strange thing was that all of these residents seemed to have exotic female names  ::)

Have you visited the 360° D-Day cinema in Arromanches? Boyd, Simon Morgan and I went there to kill time before catching our ferry on the TC French trip in 2003. I found it very moving.

7 of us going, first night will be in a Formule1 then onto a campsite between Ouistram and Arromanches (fingers crossed that I booked it but there could well have been a breakdown in communication 'cos I couldn't proper translate the reply email ???, but not going to tell my mates that) Stopped in Arromanches last year but they are full.

I won't mention to the rest of the gang where you stopped or there may be a few takers.

Yeah got in to see 360 cinema last year, quite impressive.
