Aren't kids great?
« on: May 17, 2009, 10:09:19 AM »
Caught up with my 15 year old daughter Honour last night and heard a batch of her new songs. She doesn't record them which is a drag, but her band has made one rough track, see HERE. They obviously just belted it onto tape so it's rough.

It's astounding to see her coming on, she's a great guitar player now (way better then the recording would suggest). It was funny sitting in a kitchen, watching my lovely girl sipping Budwieser and singing little songs for us all. Don't they grow up quick eh?

I was less than impressed when she cajoled all us adults into sharing a tequila shot with her... but I'm not too uptight about all that stuff, I think you have to trust your kids and she's clever enough to not do anything too dumb.

Brilliant! I like that lo-fi sort of stuff. Nice list of influences too. It's great to see kids making proper music with real instruments. My kids are way to young for all that but there are instruments knocking about all over our house so I'm hoping it'll be inevitable.
My 6 year old son has developed a curious liking for 1980s American heavy metal, which is a promising start, although theres only a lmited amount of Twisted Sister I can handle.

They're not bad at all.

Tell me about it - my daughter starts university in a few months and is currently learning to drive. Makes me feel old...

I've been doing a reasonable job of rejecting hypocrisy and allowing my 17-year to stay out until the early hours. She's pretty sensible (I've never her seen her drunk) and I was worse when I was that age.

The youngsters band don't sound bad at all.

My little girl is off to one of the Cardiff Unis' in September, where has the time gone.

Just let my daughter hear - she goes to see a lot of new bands and also thought they were pretty good. Consencus was they sound a bit like a female version of the Kooks.

Thanks for all the nice comments, I've passed them on to her. She was slightly nonplussed when I said they were via this forum. Kids put everything into boxes and she can't square motorcyclists with people who might appreciate indie music  ::)

I reckon she's still chuffed though.

That is pretty good - another guy with a balding head and sprouting nose and ears liking it - damn GC they will have to split up and do something else now all cred will have been lost!

Have No2 wandering about at the mo singing bits of Dylan, Deep Purple etc - bought Classic Rock mag for the free DVD.  He is 3 at the end of this month so there is hope we will break with Bob the Builder etc.

Was reasl nice the other day the Jazz intro to Smoke on the Water (on the DVD) was just ending and that well known and over played riff was just starting when I wandered into the lounge - there were Mk1 and Mk2, side byside, classic wide leg heavy rock stance both playing air guitar, until Gillan wanders on and Mk2 becomes a rock god... lol

You must be real proud of your lil girl GC - I guess she gets her looks and talent from her mum?  ;D

Aye GC,

Letting go can be difficult and NO regrets.  ;)

Track sounds good and reminded me of this track:

As long as they enjoy making the music for themselves, good enough.

Cred!  ::) Don't cut it these days, but we know what's COOL!  8) Being comfortable with yourself!  ;D

Keep boppin', Bill.
