Shameless plug (XBR for sale)

My brother's partner Liz is selling her lovely XBR:


It's on ebay at the minute, see the auction HERE.

Some of you will have seen me, Gareth or Liz on it at various club events. It's a nice bike and benefits from a handlebar raiser conversion. The top yoke was strengthened before the raisers were fitted, something that many XBR owners forget to do if they want raisers.

I've also just noticed that it's fitted with a pair of MY shock absorbers!  I'll be having words with my brother!

I have agreed he can sell the bike with my shocks on it 

The bike failed an MOT today on worn cush drive rubbers. I'm a bit dubious about that, surely that's an 'advise' item? I can't see any real danger in having a worn cush drive. Agreed it's not ideal but an MOT fail?

Anyway, a set of rubbers from Dave Silver is on its way so he will retest it on Friday.

New one on me  my suspicious mind says an easy way for the garage to score a retest fee  I certainly don't recall anything in the test manual about it (though the copy I used to have is now well out of date!)

Still seems a bit of a con to fail for a bit of wear, by all means an advisory, but ......  Some of these MOT guys are turning into real ripoff merchants, thank (insert Deity of choice here) my man has been around a few years and MOTs the owner more than the machine - posing to$$ers get a full workout, guys with oil under their fingernails get a chat and a cuppa as long as the basics check out.

I stand corrected! He was just being picky then...

Mind you, I'm sure at least one of my bikes has alloy packing next to all the cush drive rubbers to take up slack and save replacing them annually  not a great design imho!

I'm not sure worn cush rubbers prevent the sprocket from being securely mounted. There's no danger of the thing falling off or failing as all of the mechanical fixings are solid and secure.

Oh the patience of Jobe, when receiving some of these 'Ebay Questions'! As for the zealous MoT tester, been there, have the T-shirt and if you don't have any options, my commisserations

Yes indeed, some the questions are a bit dumb, "What's the MPG?" duh!

A bloke came over to my brother's place yesterday to view the bike and during the course of the conversation he said "have you heard of the Thumper Club?" My brother laughed and said, "well the bike actually belongs to Liz, the Thumper Club treasurer, and my brother started the club".

Turns out the fella is a TC member. So whoever you are, if you're watching, hi there. 

It would be funny to see the bike stay in the club. Of course in more affluent times I would have bought it myself to add to my own EU-style XBR mountain.
