As for the kid with no dad, what a terrible thing to happen eh? How many more and for what?

Can't speak for Afghanistan as I've never been there but certainly the presence of our troops in Bosnia made a huge difference and I used to regularly see "normal" people who were able to have a normal, average life specifically because of our presence, and indeed many of the wilder excesses of the warlords were halted by the UN/NATO presence.
The politics of deployments I'll stay out of, but the good that is done by "our boys" is clear to me.
None of that answers how many more (too many) or specifically "for what", but next time we bump into each other remind me to lend you a couple of cd's that will help to explain a little of why I believe we are doing good and why I believe we must continue to try.
My heart goes out to the young lad, I've a number of friends and aquaintances who've had very narrow squeaks but I/we've been lucky so far.
I'm glad he feels that way about Dad, he's right, and I hope his family never have to pay another price like that, unfortunately some will.
Lots more to say but I there's too much risk of not saying what I mean or writing something that would be misinterpreted. Look to your families first boys and girls, they are the most precious things you have next to your friends.
