Could I be so bold as to suggest that membership runs April 1st for 12months .It was mooted that we were to commence payment from Jan 1st. However this has come and gone and there is no information to suggest when we are to pay monies .April 1st would tie in with the financial year and would appear appropriate. This would allow everything to be put in place and the issues that remain to be resolved. If it can't , then clearly we have a problem.

Thoughts ?

It used to tie in with the Public Liability insurance and MAG renewal, this way MAG memebrship cards could be sent out with the club memebrship cards. From memory this was April time as well

Sounds like a plan .

I look forward to receiving my membership form with my Newsletter .If it is all arranged for April ,then this would allow all to receive the newsletter, complete and return forms and payment.

Is this too straight forward?

As a thought , why not have a membership form under its own heading on the site menu so it can be downloaded as needed once a member has registered on the site. This would save any complaints about not receiving newsletters which is only sent to previous full members. As long as this is done about a month before the due date for the proposed re-start of membership fees there shouldn't be any problems.

We used to have this system, and it included paying by PayPal, however the membership got itself into pickle and I decided to remove it untill untill it was sorted.

and very good it was too, I for one would find the option very useful when the time comes to pay again!  :)

There you go Richard all sorted.

However that does not resolve the ongoing issues surrounding membership and the collection of subs. From recent activity,it is evident that persons wish to give monies and get the club on a formal footing .I note that we have 176 listed members.Assuming that all are active and wish to contribute, setting a rough figure of £10:00 per member, then we have outstanding revenue if £1,760:00.Yes I know we have members ouside the UK who could be classed as ' country ' members .Can the club continue to ignore the finances in this way?
Clearly we have an active forum.I have only been active on it for a short time, however it is clear that there are a lot of people passionate about this club .It has been accepted that the club would take no fee due to poor admin earlier this year .It was suggested that there was to be a reshuffle and ,effectivly ,a relaunch of the club this year .
The social side of this club can be ,at times ,very rewarding .Llanthony is a case in point , good people ,good times .Some of us only speak to each other via this forum, however we appear to be like minded and enthusiastic,on a variety of subjects.

The issue of membership needs looking at .Only then can the other issues be addressed and the club returning to a more formal/ normal {quote Boyd} footing .

Rob .

However, as I used this system, possibly the last to do so, the site still shows my membership expiry date in with my details when I look.

Here I go again!!

All good points.

There are some members who have paid full subs and they have not received very much back in return. For that reason (amongst others) the club shouldn't ask for subs until after at least one more newsletter has been produced.

Thanks to all who have volunteered to pay despite not being asked to. Your names have been noted and we'll come to you first when the time comes to ask for wonga  ;)

Seriously though, I feel it's important to produce another newsletter and then we can ask for subs with the following one.

Aye Graham,

But a 'Newsletter' through the letter box doesn't make the Thumper Club (SteveL' comfy armchair), it duplicates what you can stick on here in blethering forums, photos and articles and pdf format.

It also costs you or Boyd time and effort after compiling it, to turn into 'hard copy' and shipping it out. Tenner a head if you want access to the newsletter as pdf and seven fifty if you just want to blether [Notional amounts, we'll vote with our feet if its extortionate ;) ]. Paypal payment or bank transfer, so the 'dosh person' doesn't have to find time to go to the bank at the clubs convenience and their expense and all payments are recorded by the bank. Look up online.

Let the 'bairn' go! You'll suffocate it if your no careful! Nuff said by me :-X and no offence meant.

My regards, Bill.

Graham, we need to sort this. There are two parts
1 - Is taking the money and keeping the records up to date.
2 - Making sure the site details reflect the current membership status.

1 Is down to the memebrship secretary.

2 is down to me, but we need to come up with a mechansim by which this can be done accurately and efficiently. Pat and I had a good system going but it wasnt that easy to maintain, and had problems each time I updated the forum version, it also quickly got out of date when he stopped being membership secretary.

I look at what I can do for 2 and go from there.

Has anyone paid in the last 12 months? Probably an over simple solution, but start a new list?
