Are you treating yourself this Christmas?
« on: November 30, 2008, 07:08:37 PM »
Sorry about bring up the "C" word so early but I was wondering what gifts you were buying for yourselves this Christmas. Last year I bought myself a couple of books on the Great War and the year before that a decent Tilley Winter Hat. You can't spend all that money on others and not save a little pleasure for yourself......can you?

erm, a new set of diving fins (already here), ridiculously expensive for "mid range" fins at the best part of £100 for them and a new snorkel but I did get new boots and gloves free with them  :-\ 8)

No point buying bike stuff just now  :( Christmas will be ok but the c**p bit of my current employ is that I will miss my family over the festive period, swmbo however is going away for a holiday with similarly afflicted friends so at least she will have company and hopefully some fun  :)

Remember guys (and girls), your family and friends are the most precious things, enjoy them and be good to them over the holidays, best wishes to all  :)

No pressies for me, it would be dangerous to say that I was treating myself within hearing range of SWMBO.

I'm happy buying for my family.

I buy myself stuff the rest of the year  ;)

Sadly not Bill :'( Two boys repidly heading toward their teens means all funds will be swallowed assisting Santa for them. Glad to do it mind and a pair of happy faces is gift enough for me ;D

It's a Nintendo DS for my son this year. Obviously it'll need a thorough pre-christmas testing to make sure it's all ok. ;D

I have bought my four little darlings a Nintendo Wii to share. The Missus has got the Wii Fit board and that will be my Christmas present watching her balancing on it while drunk!!!  ;D ;D

Yes, it's a Nintendo DS for my older boy (7), something trivial and fluffy for his younger brother (3) and probably a bottle of alcopop and some condoms for my daughter (14).

Simon Morgan actually has a Wii room in his house with a Wii-dedicated television (32" flat screen) and all the bits and pieces, although he swears he won't be buying the Wii sword and shield.  ::)

Erm....word of warning here.......my 2 grandaughters were given a Wii between them.......ye gods....it was all out war....they spent more time arguing about who's turn it was than actually using it. Rules were eventually set....on a time allocation basis....and peace decended on the kingdom of grandchildren....

I have purchased one of these http://www.iwantoneofthose.com/laser-cosmos/index.html to keep the family enertained over Christamas - well that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!  ;D

It's a ridiculous luxury but once I had read the testimonials I just had to buy one  ::)

Will report back when I have tested it!

Think I'm getting a fuel pump  :-[

Actually, me and the missus have set a 30-quid limit on it. There is just no point sending me out looking for clothes she likes or knitting things. Likewise if I ask for a clutch puller or something she won't have a clue. So, we are getting books, DVD's, sweets and alchohol. This will also avoid scenes similar to the years I got her a set of pans, a new ironing board and a part used tyre for a Nissan  :-X

The one I'm looking forward to is from my mother-in-law. Purpose designed and specially knitted bikers mid layer. Lets see if me and Karens mum can do what the Hein Gericke and the like can't  ???

However it turns out it will be better than anything Hein Gericke or whoever can turn out because it will be made by someone who cares about you. Cherish it and cherish more the care behind it  ;) :)

Well for the first Christmas in 8 years I am actually working - so I may buy a little something, have a list about as long as my arm - maybe a nice belt drive for the Triton - bugger they are more than £10 now...
