HELP! - Dominator Gearbox Problem
« on: June 01, 2008, 10:40:11 AM »
Have posted previously about my Dominators gearbox problem - stuck in forth gear, engine/clutch fine, did still run but obviously had very limited useability! No gearbox problems or grinding/jumping-out-of-gear prior to current problem.

Removed clutch in the hope that it might have been the gear shift cam (located under clutch), but sadly this is not the problem. My main questions therefore, before I remove the engine and split the cases, are:

  • Anyone had/heard of similar problems?
  • Possible cause(s)?
  • Any possible remedy without splitting cases? (Already know the answer!)
  • What to look for once cases are apart?

Any thoughts, ideas or general observations greatfully received.

Cheers

Boyd

The XL500/250RS were horizonatally spilt and the geabox could be removed with touching the top end. Not sure about the later RFVC engines, so probabaly not much help really  :-\

Thanks for your thoughts Steve,  but sadly the Domi engine splits vertically and means I've got to strip the whole lot down. Might be turning-up to the Rally in a car (or even bicycle)!
