Bottom of Iron?
« on: May 23, 2008, 08:59:46 PM »
Well mother Boyd will be off Iron butting by now, so best wishes and good luck to him, even if he is on a twin  :o

Myself I took swmbo's car down to Derby and back to collect the field bike he was kindly looking after for me, all day driving a R5 and my back is stiff as hell!! A big thanks to Mr Brooks and family though for helping me out though  8)
As has been said recently, a great club and great people!

I guess this means I have no excuse for not extracting the digit and moving my DR125 project along a bit now!  :-\

Go Boydy, Go Boydy, Go boydy  ;D

Hmmm... I'm about to have a nice glass of single malt, watch a bit of telly and then retire for an early night... I wonder what Boyd is up to?  :)

Well I've completed items one and two from your list and I'm about to have a shower then retire to my nice comfy bed  ;D
I imagine Boyd has done the mini odometer check route and met the other competitors and is now trying to sleep in a strange bed before the off in the morning...
I shall think of his efforts during my late breakfast tomorrow  ;D

Still, if he goes north at least the weather looks ok!

Mind, It could be a buzz if as many as possible of you could assemble somewhere along his route, dressed accordingly, and cheering him on from the deckchairs with a  coffee or tea and a couple of nake... oops bikini clad YL's...

It's a navigational rally, until he was given the locations of the waypoints at the start of the rally this morning even Boyd didn't know what his route will be... he may still be making it up as he goes!  ;)

As I understand it the competitors are given, at the start of the 36 hour period, a list of locations and how many points it's worth to visit each location. It is impossible to visit all the locations in the time allowed. They then choose which locations to visit, they must complete at least 1,000 miles and return to the start point within the time limit and the object is to attain as high a score as possible.
Hopefully that's all correct, feel free to add if I missed anything/got anything wrong?

I have just had a text from Boyd.He has toured Skye and is heading for Ullapool. Not that I am in the least envious of him-not the doing it in 36 hours bit anyway.

Only just got dark up here now 23:00hrs and a grand night if a bit crisp with a cool NE breeze blowing. Boyd will have had a glorious day on the west and provided he can stay warm, it's dry and clear up here at present and set fair for tomorrow.

If he tries to wake me up, I'll supply hot food and bacon butty, but 'Mother' I suspect will be fleeing back outer here by the early hours. Will keep eyes peeled.

I hope he finishes safe and sound with no bambi across the handlebars. I nearly collected 6 and a tawny owl tonight! :o

Regards, Bill.

Yup he has an invite to stop here also if he needs to, I'm off up to Ballachulish for 0900 tomorrow so I'll keep an eye out for him on my travels (by boring 4 wheels as I'm dragging dive kit up there).
Certainly been good weather this side, hope it's working out for him (but I'll bet he's feeling the miles now if he's not stopped already!)

I have a feeling the rules don't allow unofficial refuelling stops for either bike or rider....I know you have to supply photographic evidence of service station/receipt etc.....so good luck Boyd.....the further north you are the better the weather (if you believe 'em)
