A big rule of 4wd off road is to stay off the brakes as much as possible, we used to teach it by finishing a days off road training with the students taking turns to go round the whole course and we'd fine them a beer for every time the brake lights came on
Of course we would go round as well to make it fair but i somehow never had to buy any drinks...
