To spring or not to spring
« on: April 27, 2008, 01:26:47 PM »
I am interested in people's opinion and experience of the relative merit of sprung saddles as opposed to the standard padded item?

Any thoughts?

My Ural has tractor type saddles - these are actually 'sprung' on an adjustable solid rubber block rather than actual springs. They look horrendous, but if fact they are sooooo comfy once you get the 'spring rate' adjusted.

Growing old is inevitable, growing up is optional!

I have one fitted to my Enfield.
An extra bit of springing for ones bottom is quite pleasant !

As you will be aware The Norton has no rear suspension but does have a sprung saddle which I find very comfortable even on rough roads like Belguim last weekend.

At the risk of boring you I have ridden The Norton over the years to The South of France, another time to Switzerland,Germany a few years ago,etc etc,I can usually do up to 250 miles a day. When hitting a bump its a bit like riding a horse you go with the bump.
