Apologies for not saying my goodbyes to everyone, my son was getting cold and more than a little emotional, so I was concentrating on dealing with him and forgot so come and say my goodbyes.
We had a good evening and unlike me he doent seem to have been put off by the cold and wind !.

Perhaps the club ought to institute a formal goodbye ceremony at the end of each event the potential off causing any offence...

LOL  ;) Yes yes, my hands are up, some of us can be a tad sensitive at times.

What a good time son #1 and I had at Llanthony. We rolled up quite late in the afternoon because we'd stopped off to visit one of his chums enroute (in Gilwern) and I'd been happy there being plied with coffee whilst the lads played. However, upon arrival, many TC'ers made light work of getting the tent up and soon we were sat happily in the Priory bar having a natter with Pat and his son.

Returning to the tents to make scoff, we found that the temperature was, as forecast, approaching arctic levels. Dylan, being a typical five year old, found this no impediment at all to a bout of frisbee throwing, although I began to suspect frostbite was imminent.

We returned to the bar for an evening of natter and beer and it was great seeing those who had turned up: Steve Dalby, Dave and Pat, Martyn, Boyd, Pat and his son, Steve and his son, Jethro, Julian and Viv... although I'm sure I've missed someone out there. I was glad to get the chance to have a natter with the Stalwart (Jethro) and in a rare moment of largesse I even bought him a drink. Dylan fell asleep on my lap and shortly after I had to call it a night... my earliest ever departure from that bar.

My son enjoyed an uninterrupted night's sleep whilst I was woken often by the sound of the wind as it bent the tent into all sorts of shapes. The wind was ferocious, but the tent (snaffled from a bin at a Dragon Rally) performed well and not even one peg pulled out despite the hammering it got.

We had to make a smartish start the following morning and we were back home on the dot of 12.

Dylan said that he'd had a great time and I was glad to have shared the trip with him.

Cheers
GC

Hi all, Pat & I enjoyed meeting up and having a laugh over a few drinks in the Half Moon ( or The Sun as Pat called it ) on Thursday and the Priory on Friday. Saturday night was spent at a B&B on The Gower at Port Einon, run by a very strange woman. She let me park the DR in her driveway, then asked me if it leaked oil?.....do pigs fly?......so she put a piece of old carpet under it! We left there this morning visiting Tumble (RBR) Tavernspite (RBR) passing Narberth....where Patrick & Matthew left for yesterday, up to Cardigan (RBR), Aberystwyth, Newtown and home to Chester.

Hi Jethro, Shouldn't that have read...dragged out for a couple of walks.....By the way, I found the road where my relatives lived in Ynysforgan, the prefab's have gone and been replaced with semi's and the junior school is still there.....next to the M4.

Well Matt's (eldest son) first motorcycle/camping event was a great success. Yes, he was sick, and yes, he got cold, but thats all part of the experience isn't it?
The ride to Narberth was a bit blustery and the first leg over the mountains to Hay was no exception. The water flowing off the hills was freezing over the track making things more than a little interesting. We passed Martin as we cleared the shelter of the trees and didn't see him again even though we pulled over to take in the view. Hope you were alright matey.
After a hot chocolate and a warm up in Hay, the next stop was the cafe at Llandovery for some lunch. But Matt's adventure was starting to catch up with him so it turned out to be a quick snack and a blast down the A40 for the comfort's only a Mum can provide.
I must say the little lad makes a great pillion and I think at one point he actually nodded off behind me!
Hot baths and some warming food saw Matt revived enough to start bragging to his brother about how he had survived gales and blizzards across frozen tundra. By the time he finished I thought we'd just helped rescue Shackleton!
Great trip out guys, till the next time.
