I decided to take some parts from my old Francis Barnett to be re-chromed. Kick start, gearlever ,exhaust clamp ,handlebars, and a wheel spindle. I expected it to be 80 or 90 pounds but £150 plus VAT   :'(    Still if a jobs worth doing

I don't think that's necessarily expensive. A good polish chrome finish has never been cheap especially if the platers have to do some cleaning up and polishing of the items before they're put in the bath. If you just want to stop the metal pieces from rusting get them zinc and passivated, but of course it doesn't look half as good as a polish chrome.

If you did it at home it would have cost 2X that for a basic DIY kit.
