My wife is learning to ride a motorcycle and therefore is need of a 125. Having turned down offers of free TS125s a year ago I now find myself needing to ask (in a whisper) if anyone has any idea what a GEELY is? Chinese I believe but I cannot find a dealer in the UK and I have no interest in buying something that is a parts free zone.

The only 'geely' I ever heard of relates to a Glaswegian jam sandwich, as in 'geely piece' ;D. Sounds like a dodgy name for a bike!

Dunno about the Geely so much, but Hartford HD125S's don't look too shabby for the price (£1799). Better looking than the venerable CG in that it looks more like a "proper" bike. Lamo's in Llandissilio, Pembrokeshire might be worth a go. Try this: www.lamosmotorcycles.co.uk

Be very careful buying cheap far eastern bikes !
Some of them shouldnt be on the road....!
Some are sold by people who have no idea what so ever about vehicles.There for they are not put together with the greatest of care.
The general quality of the machines are not that good and the availability of parts leave a little to be desired.
Dont get me wrong one or two,Hyosung and some others are pretty good,but the majority at the moment are awful.
Having said that they can only get better.....look at the Japanese...similar things were said about them !
At the moment be careful....Get a CG or ETZ 125.
Must admit Ive had and ridden a few bikes in my time and I think the ETZ 125/150 I had was one of the best I've ever owned.

Just been talking to a Suzuki  125 Van Van rider in the car park at work. He has had it for three years and says it is an excellent little commuter. The balloon tyres give him confidence in adverse weather so much so that for the first time he is an all-weather biker. He would never have ridden his previous bikes all year. I've got to say it is in great nick considering, the build quality is really good. The low seat height might be a welcome consideration for a female rider just starting out.
