I need a bit of teccy info
« on: October 16, 2007, 11:10:53 AM »
Having to do a top end rebuild on #4 SRX6, now, when i had this rebored, the rebore included a head gasket.

Problem is, Denver Motorcycles is no more, and I can't find a gasket supplier, who can do anything other than a standard fitting (96mm) and i need 98mm

ideas please.............

This is getting a bit urgent, as i'd like to have this bike ready to go to Stafford this weekend!!!

All/any help would be most welcome

Cheers

Look for part number W5689, its a top end gasket that covers the Wiseco 98mm piston.
Other than that why not use a standard Yamaha gasket and dremmel the ID to suit ?.

Aye SteveL,

Having removed 634cc Wiseco from Sally and retained bits, these are the following dimensions.

ID of cylinder liner 98mm

OD of cylinder liner at widest point of liner lip 109mm

ID of cylinder head gasket 97mm.

If you require used cylinder head gasket, let me know by 08:00hrs 17th October 2007 and I will post tomorrow morning.

Regards, Bill.

Maybe everybody knows this already, but my favourite mechanic paints old head gaskets with aluminium paint and reinstalls them. It works perfectly, but only once. The paint needs to be dry when the gasket's installed.

Out of interest are they laminated gaskets, solid copper or fibre ?

Bit of everything steve, solid gas sealing ring, sort of semi-solid composite stuff on the rest, same thickness all over (obviously) and is deffo 98mm, well, says so on the label..

hey steve, will chat to you about this, as I will need 98mm gaskets.

And they're cheaper than standard Yamaha kit!!

have a good time at stafford, hope "the beastie" is good to you!

(SRX, not Boyd!     ;D)
