Just when things were doing nicely....
« on: September 13, 2007, 11:56:32 AM »
My lovely little blue SRX6 currently up on ebay.......blew the head gasket this morning just outboard of the right hand oil feed which runs up to the cam and head.....well I know the oil pump is working well.....the oil was coming out with such force that it nearly holed the leg of my leathers!!!

What a bluddy mess (was only a mile from work, so poodled in without losing too much oil), i'm gutted!

thats going to have to be a barrel and head off, and refaced and a pukka new head gasket (and I was so looking forward to blatting round cadwell next wednesday on the morini club trackday.

and i'll have to cancel the Ebay auction

AND SWMBO...has just informed me that the AGA has gone out 'cos we've run out of oil (my job)
and we have friends coming round for a nosh tonight.....thats ALL my brownie points blown!

and i know today is just going to get worse.......bu55er....it's the 13th!

Steve!

What a tale of woe!!  I can feel your pain.  My equivalent was tieing down the head on the Norton, making sure the pushrods were all located, and then checking to make sure everything worked.  It didn't having made an ar5e of the pushrod location, and so it was back off.  The night before athe trip to the Manx (06).  You only make that mistake once!!

Thats a shame mate, I was looking forward to seeing it in the flesh at Cadwell. :(

Can you burn the (drained!) oil from the bike in the AGA??!!

see you on wednesday

look at that bluddy vultures circulating already :-)

Andy.....I'll be taking my track bike on wednesday, so will have summat to play with

Those were the days....pushrod location when fitting the head on my gold flash.....bu55er!! i hated it, usually done in a dark garage, and if i remember rightly they could drop off the cam follower and disappear into the crankcase, and could only be retrieved by taking the head off (again) and using a pair of (very) long nosed pliers

makes dropping the cam chain seem a doddle

Talking of Cadwell, I was going to fill in the entry form (as shown on this web site) but could not work out why there were three prices?

How do I contact somebody (Morini club) to find out quickly, then I, & friend might go!

Hello John

Its 120 quid.    :o There are 3 rates:

Morinis are 100 before some date in July
or 110 after

Other marques are 110 before said date in july
or 120 after.

So its 120!  Sorry matey!  I'm just going for practice, and to learn the circuit (again!)

And today posting my entry for cadwell supermono on 6/7 october.  must be near the closing date by now??

Hope to see you wednesday
