Sorry to hear your news Boze, but am I being dull, why don't you just moth ball the old girl?? After all it's not like you'll never ride again is it. Or better still, this could be the ultimate moment to do a rebuild/custom job Come on, a nice little winter project to keep you bikey while the leg heals, what could be better??

Id like to but i need something a bit comfier, too many vibrations and not enough protection from the wind and the rain you see? I dont drive a car, my bike is my only transport and i use it every single day so i have to have something comfy and reliable and i cant afford to buy another bike without selling this one first

Its horrible flogging something you've spent so many hours sweating over and noodling with. Still, if the bike doesn't suit you you're better off getting another. Any ideas what you're going to go for next?

Good luck with the leg and hopefully it won't be too long before you're back on 2 wheels.

Not sure fetta, im battling with two options.

Either a sports tourer such as the 1994 vfr750 or maybe depending how i feel and how my cash flow is i have been drooling over the 2008 KTM 690 supermono......

That's a scunner! Hope your knee gets sorted and works well after the rebuild etc!

Am I right in suspecting it won't be up to hoofing the Old Girl over? As for that KTM, your knee may not like the trussed chicken or ready to spring frog impressions you'll be doing with a seat - footpeg relationship like that.

250 Majesty or 400 Burgman might be right up your street and they're Thumpers as well!

Main thing is get the knee sorted and looked after.

Cheers dave, I dont know a hell of a lot about the vfr's other than that if looked after properly they will serve you well for a long long time and that the down pipes have a tendency to corode on our salty roads...ill keep you in kind if i get one

Not being cheeky! I'm same height as yursel' and have had wee sit ons, but no distances on these beasties. Comfortable, with plenty of stowage and protection for those commutes up that awful dual carriageway from your place. Have also spoken to some owners who have hip/leg injuries from 'sports' bikes and still go out with their mates and embarress them on the twisties, whilst keeping the license. If you see one have a blether with the owner you may change your opinion if not the bike.

If and when my pins start to complain, I shall certainly contemplate the market for one.

Another one you might consider might be the Honda P800. Looks, NO. Thumper, NO. But for big miles, reliability and carrying capacity without the lardy of a Pan worth a look.

Whatever, you choose, all the best and good recovery from the op.

Hehehe, well im not quite ready for a scooter yet my friend My girls dad had a cn250 i think it was, bloody scary to ride! The centre of gravity is screwed up because of the engine placement so therefore takes corners like a legless pig....

I've to many in the garage at the moment damo and have to be frequently restrained from poking the 'Bid' button.

Whilst Kat is understanding and often encourages outbursts of loonacy or lunacy depending upon the season, there is a mutually respected moratorium on acquisitions at the moment. 

Machines are being sorted and some will be punted in due course (singles, of course).

Hallo guys and gals!!

I ended up geting this bike of bike trader, the guy lived just down the road from me and i got it for a great price:



Its a 1989 Yamaha FZR600 genesis.

Its really smooth to ride and isnt an all out sports bike so the riding positions quite comfy and the foot to arse ratio is quite good too hahaha

Am i still allowed to post here now im not a thumper owner?
