Back on two wheels
« on: August 17, 2007, 06:57:26 PM »
Hi all, after my recent mishap ( the Sunday before the Annual Rally) resulting in four broken bones in my right foot, I am now riding again. A couple of weeks ago I was nearly reduced to buying a twist & go scooter, but I saw sense and waited until I could get a boot on my swollen foot ( I have been using an Aircast for the last couple of weeks), unfortunately not a bike boot, but a winter hiking boot. So I met up with some friends last night to go for a ride into Wales (110 miles) and their main concern was my mismatch in footwear, but do I care, a few more days and my other boot should fit.
So now I am mobile again Pat & I are off to Scotland tomorrow to participate in the Island Challenge, as part of the Scottish National Rally......island hopping from Arran to Skye on my DR750 across four days......should be interesting.
      Hope the weather's kind

Really good to hear that you're back on the bike (both you and Mart)

All the best

Hi all, we made it to Scotland and back. I found free camping in Oban for four nights.
Day 1, south to Kintyre, Arran, mainland, Bute and back to Oban.
Day 2, north to Corran, ferry across the Loch, then south to Mull, circuit of the island and back to Oban.
Day 3, north to Corran, over the Loch then north to Mallaig, over to Skye around the island, return ferry back to Mallaig and back to Oban via Fort William.
We collected all the dated receipts within the four day time limit, but apart from the stunning scenery, the quiet roads, the weather was glorious.......711 miles on the bike ( DR 750 not so BIG ) and 650 getting to Oban and back in the old camper.

Well done on your excellent recovery! The 'Holiday' sounded great.
