position vacant - please read!
« on: August 14, 2007, 08:56:38 AM »
I have made the decision to stand down as membership secretary and am looking for a volunteer to take over the position. I'm prepared to see out the month, but thereafter, if no one comes forward I will be returning the records to GC.

Thank you for reading this thread and if any of you are thinking about stepping in, but want to know more, please email me and I'll gladly answer all your questions. (trust me this ain't tough, even I can do it!)

Cheers,Pat.

All, as Pat mentioned this is not a difficult task to perform, it is however quite important. If it remains vacant then it will be necessary to stop members from joining on line. This will not immediately effect anyone, however eventually the club income will reduce to a point where we can no longer afford the liability insurance. If we don't have insurance then the club isn't covered so no website.

Pat give me a call this evening and perhaps we can come to an understanding. Unless someone else is prepared to stick their head over the parapet

Pat, I'd be quite happy to do this. The only proviso is that I can't do it immediately, as Orange broadband are still failing to reconnect us after we recently moved house (I'm posting this from work). I hope to be back online within a couple of weeks (hah), so if it's not sorted when this happens, let me know?

Great stuff Richard ;D However I intend to hand over at the end of the month regardless so may I suggest you chat directly with GC as it looks like he will be getting a parcel left on his doorstep ;)
So far I haven't heard from GC regarding this, maybe your phone call might enlighten him :)

Like the new smilies BTW 8) ::) ;D ;) :-*

OK, well I'll post here amd email GC as soon as I'm back online. At the moment  I'm completely at the mercy of Orang-Utan Broadband, who seem to have no kind of functioning internal communication system at all (speak to Tech Support, who send a job off to the Engineers then have no means of talking to them to find out why they haven't fixed it yet).

I only heard about this via the forum last Friday. I've been away since then. No trace of any committee emails on this subject in my inbox.

I think Richard has kindly volunteered from reading the above matey, why are you chucking your hat in the ring?? If you are might I suggest you have a chat with GC/Richard and sort it out amongst yourselves. Cheers ;D

Eh?

I'm not questioning anyone's competence, other than my own for not checking the forum more often of late.

I'm just a little confused about the order of events, surely a mail went to the committee before the news was posted on the forum?

See the back of you? Why, are you going somewhere  :)

Cheers

I don't have a problem if someone else wants to do it. I'm still fighting with orange broadband to get any kind of connection in our new home, so I'm not a lot of use at the moment ....  :-/

I'm glad you reminded me about that, I'd been meaning to say that a local club member has agreed to take it on and I think, given his proximity, he will be the best candidate for the role.

But, many thanks to all who offered.

As I say, it's no skin off my nose. But "proximity" to what, exactly? We're a national club, after all ;-) International, even.
