I am definately contemplating it for 2009 as next year is out and as much as I would love to take the bullet, I think it will be a Zed probably my black one or maybe if it is ready my birthday project from the wife my soon to be ES250/2.

If I can persuade Mr Marshall then we could take a squadron of Zeds over, are you interested?

Steffan

On the other hand there is always the Alt-treffen, no one been yet?

Interested yes. Likely to have the cash, no. It's the wedding in 2008 and I seem to have promissed to run some sort of trans-european rail journey for the honeymoon in 2009. See what happens when you drink too much Timothy Taylors! Still, keep me informed and if I can come I will.

What's the Alt-treffen? GC has been invited to some more extreme version that looks definately sidecars only for people who think the Elefant isn't tough enough.

Yes I went to the Alt Elefant in 2002 enjoyed it a decent campsite with proper facilites and lots of motorcyclists not many fake pretend motorcyclists as you can find at the Elphant Rally, as you may be aware I will not attend the Elefant Rally again following the problems and experiences in 2006.I will now stop ranting.

First let me be clear, you took the Norton to the Elefant? Secondly I know nothing of this trouble so by all means spill the beans and rant..

I took a Norton (ES2) to the 1971 Elefant at Nurburg Ring.a Honda GL1000 to Salzburg in 1982,went on a BMW 800 combo in 1998 with 2 mates whilst driving it back at about 80mph the rear wheel collapsed that was to Solar. In 2002 I went with some mates on my R100RT to Solar.

Last year 2006 I went on a 2ltr Trike  5 seater with some other people rather than swap this site with ranting and moaning basically we were let down badly by two of the people we went with, the site officials were completly unhelpful and I consider the site dangerous, facilities appaling, many of but not all of the people attending of course, had equipment with them that could not have been brought on a motorcylce   enormouse frame tents, braziers, motorised wheel barrows.

Walking around the site on the steep slopes is dangerous I slipped and fell over several times (Stone Cold Sober) you constantly have to dodge people roaring around on various things that could not have been ridden to the rally the noise generated by some people again both music and explosives using equipment that could only have been taken there in a van or a car.

We need some help on arriving and when we left but the officals just were not interested in helping

As you can see I have been to the Elefant several times but I no longer consider it a motorcycle rally and I will not attend again.

As I siad earlier I could go on for several pages this is only a brief rant
