well i finally feel i can join the club again, i still have the xbr though it is still in many pieces i got another for spares, and yesterday i purchased a little SRX 600. Its ace. is there anything i need to know about them?

Petrol in the petrol tank, oil in the oil tank, air in the tyres, throtle wound right back - think that covers it :)

Electric start or twinshock ?. Most of the problems are age related and much thae same as your XBR, the only points of note are grumbling 5th gears and they can be poor starters if left for a few weeks (doesnt effect all SRX's) draining the float bowl can help.

The other issue is tanks rusting around their lowest point.
