srx race bike
« on: July 01, 2007, 10:26:13 PM »
I am desperate for a std. 17" srx rear wheel (to fit a twin shock if it makes any difference!)

Has anybody got one for sale?

Also maybe a frame? or rolling chassis? or even a whole bike (at the right price)

400 or 600, either will do.

Trying to build another one for young john who has just decided to take the big step of getting back after his two big crashes.

Will buy the parts or trade them for road stuff off srx's (& xbr's) that we don't need...

Am compiling a list of the spares to put in the classifieds soon (Alladins cave- ask Boyd?)

I've got a spare frame and possibly wheels though I think the rear will be 18 inch. Also standard forks etc. Give us a ring on 01909 515488 if you are interested.

We all get Heavier as we get Older because there is a lot more information in our heads

Hi,  really like the blue srx, I admire a man who knows what he's doing, but as I plan to put something on the track it would be a shame to touch that one!.
I/we plan to put together a similar bike to the 14 day project of a few weeks ago (still got to get out & ride that one properly yet!) so my son, john, can get back into racing mode (on the cheap).

Really interested in the wheels (how much? or what would you want to swap?)

Have you any discs/swingarm/twin shocks/front progressive springs/etc. etc. etc.?

erm............my SRX6 twinshocks have 18" as standard.....and i do have a front and back in good order, but you said you wanted a 17"? are you planning on fitting this into the standard SRX6 twinshock forks?
I do have a Yamaha 17" frontwheel, it's off a monoshock SRX i think, it's trispoke with mounting for a single disc, marked ' J 17 MT 2.50 DOT'
measurement between outer of each bearing 975mm (approx 3 7/8)
measurement between wheel hub flange extremety  1118mm (4 3/4 approx)

might need spacers making up, and an adaptor for the caliper, as the disc is bigger i think

cheers

Does a 17" wheel fit straight in as replacement for 18" in twin shock (REAR)? or am I looking at problems.  (the idea was to just replace the 18" items with 17" ones with hopefully not too much to alter?)

Hello

My FZR400RR rear wheel uses a std srx swingarm & spindle.  The FZR spindle is obviously bigger as its sleeved down and uses special ally spacers.

The rear disk is TZ250, and a spaced TZ250 caliper.

Can post sizes if you like if thats any use?

Didn't you have problems with wheel alignment (chain?)

ermm....lots of issues here...
I'm running an srx6(twinshock) engine in a monoshock chassis as one of my trackbikes....and there is 10mm misalignment on the chain...acceptable for a track iron, probably not for the road.

i will check the wheels i have on this bike and see if they'll fit the twinshock chassis

why are you going for 17" ?  i know there is a better selection of tyres...any other reason?

not sure what Andy is running on his.....

Better selection of tyres is no.1 priority,     2nd-they look better?

Didn't you have problems with wheel alignment (chain?)

When I got it straightened they checked wheel alignment and chain alignment.  Both are *EXACTLY* spot on (with a stright frame;  the headstock was a bit bent).  As I suspected, I think this was quite a good build.  Much better than I am due!  I think the sprocket may have been slightly "spaced off", as there is a custom spacer at the back of the sprocket carrier.  For a while, this was a section of RS250 handlebar.  Now its a nice ally spacer boyd made me.

The gap between the front of the rear tyre and swingarm is now equidistant on both sides.

The tyres I'm currently running are the ones you gave me, john.  The KR364s.

Cheers,
