All this rain

I been watching the news about the rain causing flooding in Sheffield,Rotherham,Doncaster and other parts of Yorkshire etc.
Just want to say I hope all you Northerners are ok and not having too bad a time of it.
Down here in Kent we don't seem to be getting it so bad.

Thank's for thinking of us. Here in Leeds it's very localised. The river Aire broke it's banks in places and flooded the Royal Armories car park and a few places nearby. The Leeds ring road was a mess for a while as various minor water courses over flowed. Most people are lucky as the residential areas tend to be pretty high above the city. I think there will be a few pretty annoyed people who bough new properties right where the water gathered, but I think that's a case right across the country. Sheffield got it worse for sure.

Looking forward to being flooded here in Sunny South Wales - not that I want water damage in the ol' homestead, but if we flood then Port Talbot will be 200 feet under water - he he he

Monday I had to drive a 7.5 ton lorry up to near Sheffield leaving Ludlow at 5 in the morning no problems as I got further north towards Dronfield I was going through flooded back lanes, picked up the load (100 40lb weight live turkeys) started back, the roads to the M1 were closed because of floods.Eventually I got onto the M1 near Nottingham then headed down the A42/ M42 to Bromsgrove no problems clear skys dry as a bone.Delivered to the farm and headed back to Kidderminster then Bridgnorth .Leaving Bridgnorth to head back to base the road was marked closed.As I had no choice I went round the signs and continued.In places the road was up to 3 feet deep in water and there was broken down and abandoned cars everywhere.Being in a lorry I was able to get through the floods.Getting back to near base I saw another one of our lorries coming the opposite way containing the boss and his wife they told me to take the lorry home as car could not get along the road.Drove the lorry back home parked it outside my little house.Following morning I heard on the News that a road bridge into Ludlow had collapsed at about 3 in the morning I had driven over it at about 5-30 that evening.Next day the house next to the bridge partially collapsed.The garage that services our lorries etc had 4 foot of water through it and our tyre supply company will be closed for a month.

So where are you Bruce - my Big Sis lives in Little Hereford and her hubby is a supplier of wonderful hand made sausages...

I live in Ludlow about 4 miles from Little Hereford re the sausages I sometimes get involved with events in and around Ludlow involving sausages at last years Medieval Festival my self and two mates sold 120lbs weight of sausages.

He has only just set out - having thrown in his job - to make sausages, bacon etc and cook dinners for people - he is an excellent cook.  Think he is going to be at the Ludlow food festival - but on a shared stall.

Saw the video on the TV tonight of the house collapsing - oops - not a good one to happen.  Trust you are dry and safe

Interesting night in and around Sheffield, Monday night working for the ambulance service, Normal rules did not apply.

The truth is it wasn't work more of an adventure as you never knew if the incident you was on could be reached or if they needed taking to hospital if you could get them there.

Was at meadowhall and left 10 minutes before the car park was 2 foot deep in water. probably was the closest disaster I got
