I blame Michael and Andrew
« on: September 13, 2025, 08:25:10 AM »
Here I've been happily having short wanders out on my Enfield (Sid in honour of Sidartha Lal Enfield's boss) and neglecting the Mighty Midget and not feeling guilty about it. Then along come the brothers Thumper with their tales of derring do on wee Scottish back roads on, mostly, wee Thumpers and I end up spending an hour in the garage getting all greasy and painty playing around with the aforementioned Mighty Midget dreaming of thumpetting along in the sunshine.

Honestly gents your tale of the Moffat adventure has inspired me to renew my efforts to resurrect the MM so that I have some of that thumpette riding back that I love so much, not to replace Sid my Enfield of course, but just to make me giggle. Thanks chaps.

Ian

Hi ian. I'm happy to accept my share of the blame, guilty as charged, if the story of our antics is any kind of inspiration. Look forward to hearing how you get on with the MM. Just one thing. I can't recall Mick saying anything about sunshine. 😂. The smaller capacity (now classic) Japanese singles are a more efficient use of metal than the approach taken by Royal Enfield, but there's a lot to be said for a long stroke thumper, in terms of just the riding experience. Each approach has their merits. Main thing is to enjoy the ride, whatever form it takes. 😎

Morning Ian. I’d like just echo big bros words and accept any form of blame squarely on the chin.
Over the years I’ve been a member of the TC community I too have had my fair share of inspiration in various guises by a few different members on here.
I can’t wait to read when you post saying the mighty midget is alive again, and you’re setting off on a road trip to Moffat…… in the sunshine, OBVIOUSLY 😁👍
Cheers, Michael

Thanks all you Thumperteers you really are the best.

Michael, fate may be prodding me in a certain direction. I have been doing bits on the MM but on Sunday I wandered to my local bike shop/cafe for brekkie and there in the back room was a TU250 Suzuki, which as you know is a strange version of the GN 250. It was fairly cheap, thus tempting me. I haven't bought it, but it would make a hell of a Mighty Midget mark2 to go to Moffat on.

Too right, it makes perfect sense. Go on Ian. As the great Arnie Schwarzenegger once said (in predator I think🤔 ) “Do it, do it nooow” 😁 That Moffat trip is calling your name.
