I have bought a second bike as a project and was wondering if anyone has had dealing with having more than one bike on a single insurance. As you can only ride one at a time I see no reason why  you couldn't pay for the higher rated bike plus a small tariff.  Anybody  had dealing with this

yes indeed......I have my policy with Adrian Flux insurance (Bikesure) , mainly because they are local to me(pass them on the way to work) the policy i have through them is with Norwich Union, as my second bike is the same model and same CC as the first bike, there was no additional charge, if the bikes are different, I think you pay the premium on the bike in the highest group. And the recovery/roadside rescue only covers the main bike. Give'm a call, nice people to deal with 0870 2250771

Carol Nash also do multi bike policies at pretty reasonable rates, I have the XBR, the GN & the Ural on mine for about £120 ish for TPF&T.  I think they also do combined car & bike policies and reduced premiums on car rates for bike riders .

Mine was with Carole Nash - they were really good - pointing out that if I insured the one where there was a discount for club membership - in this case the Triumph Owners Club, then the insurance would be cheaper for all the bikes than if I insured them with another as the main policy bike.  Will also cover projects for a small amount - so long as they are led to believe they are complete bikes - would not cover the Triton as an engine and rolling chassis - but would with the engine dumped in the frame (ummm what engine)

Can I tax a bike without insurance? I just want to get it taxed and MOT'd to sell it, I'm not going to be riding it. Its currently on a SORN but I thought it might sell better if its taxed. On the other hand if its going to cost me for insurance it's not going to be worth it. The bikes not worth much anyway.

No without all the legal requirments MOT ,Insurance etc you cannot tax it.What are you trying to get rid of perhaps somebody might be interested.

Its a CD175 K4. Its not the greatest bike in the world even for a CD. Its pretty shagged out but it ought to get through an MOT ok. Its going in tomorrow. I can't imagine anyone here would want it but it might fetch a couple of hundred towards my trail bike fund if its road legal. I'd hate to inflict it on any of my pals under the false impression that they were getting a decent bike. I'm not really 'bigging it up' am I! I just think whoever does buy it ought to be aware of what they're getting.

I'll MOT it and shove it on Ebay. If its a dead duck I'll break it and ebay the parts.

Front is 2.75 x 17" and rear is 3.00 x 17" I think. They're proper scabby though. The rims have been painted black because all the chrome fell off. What do you want them for Rog? I've got another of these bikes coming and if its in a mess I'll probably break it, so even if I sell this one whole I might well have a load more parts.

Am messing with a CG and was thinking some slightly bigger wheels - or more importantly brakes - would be good - really wondering if the whole front end from a CD175 would be a good thing on my (poxy) CG project.  Being done on a shoe string.

Rog I got most of an old ZXR400H front end you can have cheap and i mean CHEAP!.. forks,wheel,discs speedo drive and spindle, Even got a back wheel to match. if you interested bung me an email to mikbe at hotmail dot com.

Rog, CD brakes, particularly the front one, are notoriously crap. Although the weight of the bike might have something to do with that.

Maybe they are - but are they not TLS on the front?  According to my book they are 7" TLS which is a bit more than the CG 6" SLS and I think the wheel is a similar size so it may fit the front fork OK or the forks would fit the frame OK.

No, they're 7" SLS. CD185 or maybe the CD200 (I can't remember which) has TLS as does the CB175. I've been told its not an uncommon bodge to drill a hole in the plate and shove another cam in so it'll take CB175 brake shoes.
