Weekend Pre-Brief(!)
« on: May 19, 2007, 12:42:17 AM »
Well I know what I'm doing this weekend... dropped swmbo at the station on the way home tonight to pick up her car (long story!) and as I pulled out of the station car park there was a loud bang and no drive...
Broken halfshaft :( so a quick tweak of the locking hubs (before it rolled away down the hill :O ) and I was off home in a front wheel drive Landy.

Looks like I'm shopping for spares then spending the remaining time under the truck checking if I'm still strong enough to hold up a diff on my tod :(

Ho hum...

Well, my XBR has delveloped an oil leak that needs further investigation. Despite all efforts, I'm finding it hard to ignore. Its just a little bit of seepage in the vicinity of the front left hand side of the rocker cover but its starting to get on my pip. It looks like its coming from the end of rocker arm shaft but everythings oily so its hard to tell. My Better half is working today and i'm grounded looking after the nippers (as usual) so it'll have to wait until tomorrow. Weather is crap, anyway. Its dead windy. I'd half planned to go and see my Sister this weekend as an excuse to go the extremely long way round through the twisties but it looks like that's not going to happen.

And I need to re-felt the shed roof. Oh joy.
And I need to rebuild my sons computer. Oh happy day.

Ok, whingeing over. Time for a cup of tea. Have a nice weekend all.

Dave

Well Mrs Mav gave birth to our first born on Saturday morning - so my weekend plans are catching up on sleep and getting to grips with having a little fella around. Might be able to sneak out to National Tyres to pick up  my newly shod rear wheel though.

Hi Bill,

Thanks mate. Called him Brody - which sounded ok, then I discovered it is old irish meaning 'ditch'! The wife is knackered so while she's having a sleep I've had him watching the Northwest 200 - start 'em young eh?

T'other Bill,

Thanks again mate - I'm having a pint or two of St Helier Pear Cider to celebrate/chill out. The little guy was due the weekend of Wetton but held on so I could turn up for the Saturday. Will be leaving him in his mother's tender care for the Dent weekend though. His first full day at home has seen him sat with me watching MotoGp, NW200 and BSB - so a good start. The Government give you £250 to start a trust fund for the nippers - so he's on his way to a Thumper when he turns 18!!

Congrats Mav, Ive got v1.1 coming up to 3 years old, and he drives me mad chattering all day and he's into everything so I have to not leave tools or keys around or you find him with a screwdriver unscrewing something off the wall or trying to start something but I wouldnt have it any other way and he's in school 4 mornings a week which is also bliss...

Aye, enjoy the wee person whilst they're wee, they soon 'grow up'! My bike and the car (Beetle) were painted by a 3 year old with underseal and a 4" brush. Very proud, so we left it on!

Time flys and you don't realise till it's flown!

Just hope v1.1 doesn't get too enthusiastic with the pyromania. I remeber it well! ;-)

Cheers, Sentimental Old Furry Toy!

No2 is one today... No1 is real excited - moth than for his 5th Birthday a couple of months back.

Enjoy him - every minute he grows more and more - it is amazing how they change.

Oh - have a look into the developmental damage TV can do to the mylination and synaptic migration (think that is the right phrase) etc of the juvanile brain, maybe he needs to get his motorcycle fix from the real thing?
