Nice one... especially if they decide to bring out a more road orientated version. 👍

I saw this on youtube a few days ago and really like the look of it. It's just a shame that there is an Indian connection really as I just don't trust their quality control. Still as I'm unlikely to buy one I don't suppose it matters what I think.

Evening Ian (sorry Spartacian) I’m pretty sure the ktm390 I had was built in India and I have to say the build and finish quality on that was pretty good. I’d look forward to seeing one of the new triumph singles. I doubt I’d think of swapping one for the trident but hey. Never say never.
Cheers, Michael

Hi Michael

I suppose it depends on who is managing the factory. I believe Honda put in all Japanese management if they build in another country to ensure standards are met and possibly KTM did that. I don't think it is just quality as BMW made the 310 series in India it is quality control that is the issue. If you look at a 500 efi RE motor they are well engineered with large bearings but some of them are built to shocking standards and the quality of original parts sometimes leaves a lot to be desired. When I removed the motor from my efi Bullet the frame took it's natural shape and getting the motor back in was a nightmare. I think it was assembled using a big hammer rather than a jig.

Anyway how is the new Triumph? Totally different from the CCM I expect.

Morning Ian. Thanks for asking. I’ve (so far) absolutely no regrets about swapping the CCM for the trident. Only ridden the 12.5 miles back from the dealership last Thursday so far but that was enough to tell me that I’d made the correct decision. Not just the bike but also the whole buying experience from the dealership (Phillip Youles, Blackburn) CCM could AND should take a leaf out of their book regarding customer service. Just touching back on the subject of build quality, the trident is built over in Thailand I believe  and, I know it’s early days but the build quality certainly seems to be of a decent standard.
I’ll keep the TC members posted of my thoughts once I get out on some decent runs in, I hope, the very near future. Especially now the pressure is off me regarding our house build🤦???👍
Cheers, Michael
