as an ex raf bod, we all knew about the 'Shilling' modification to the big SU carburettor ... as i remember, it was called 'tilly's orifice'

and was, as i recall implemented on the early variants of the spitfire and hurricane which tended to cut out when inverted ....

great story

I read an excellent book about Beatrice Shilling but I can't remember the title. She was a hell of a woman and had so much talent.

Lots!  ::) My Mum and Dad both had enquiring minds and it rubbed off! It can be very distracting and frustrating for me and others, as the wee light bulbs go on! And on, and on, and on ...........!  :-[

Hey Bill let the lights go on and on mate. I grew up in a house where mum and dad often went without things for themselves so they could buy books to educate me and my siblings. There can never be too much thinking in the world.

Agreed Spartacus, but I'm sorry to say that the "Classics", Willie Shakespeare, films, "Tinsel Town" and video/online gaming have passed me by!  ???  I'd much rather be reading about "Tilly's orofice", rebuilding an engine or watching the World turn! ;D ;D ;D

Good health, Bill
