Shame he's so dismissive of Norton's isolastic which if properly set up (and I agree could be a bit of a faff) resulted in a turbine smooth bike which (in my opinion at least) handled nearly as well as a Featherbed. My wife, who was always a reluctant pillion passenger at best, said it was like flying it was so smooth. Mind you she had spent some years perched on a pillion pad on the back of a rigid Model 18......

Thanks for posting. I rode a GL1000 once and the lack of any discernable vibration really added to the uniqueness of the ride which was so smooth and comfy. The low down torque added to the relaxing experience, although the greasy state of the roads at that time made me nervous on the brakes and in the turns, hoping not to have to do both simultaneously!
