Cheers for the link Matt. Oh and the Enfield would DEFO be my second choice, good shout👍... I’d obviously take a lot of the weight off it and “customise” it... bit of a street tracker style. Rigid rear end maybe... ooo eeerrr vicar 😉

Even though I have Biggles my classic efi, I would certainly like one of the new Trials efi Bullets, but red or green ?

Yes I’ve had a couple of small runs on big bro’s Enfield Matt.... life in the sloooow lane, which i must say is appealing more and more to me nowadays. I defo do miss my speed triples as I still think they are superb road bike, but I’m not riding anything like has fast as I used to. Plus I think if I bought another the temptation would be there for me to give it some ‘beans” 😉 So the tracker and my ktm390 will do me nowadays..... that is unless maybe an Enfield interceptor just happens to come up nice n cheap like.... they do make lovely street trackers😁🤘

ural is still uk legal. right hand sidecar cutoff is set at 1981, anything pre 81 can still have a chair on the right. but as its not uk registered id just be careful, there are a lot of folks trying to sell late urals and cossacks as well as the chinese flathead copys as early models. im not saying this isnt. im just saying do your homework so you dont get lumbered with an unregisterable unusable uninsurable machine. check the pics against the model historys. that bike looks like its got an alternator on it, which afaik wasnt a standard fixture in the 1960's but it could just be a later one.
having said all that, im not sure a cossack/ural/dnepir would be my choice for a sidecar hack that requires reliability, they dont have a great reputation as long running machines. id be getting it fitted with a bmw engine just for the sake of being able to get back home again.

ok, this is over your budget at 5.5k but he says in the ad that he is open to offers so you may get away bidding 5k considering that nobody is bying at the moment. this is a bit more likely to reliably start every day and get you home again without the assistance of the rac man. obviously you are going to need to find thee funding for the mods you need to do to transport your son, but you have the extra advantage of not having him sat facing oncoming traffic in the rh chair!

New(ish). I’m tempted by CCM GP450, Himalayan, Duke 390...but all my bikes are Classic insurance, so maybe a SLR650/Honda Vigor with luggage added is a sensible cheap Himalayan?

Other classic options are Transalp (a comfy NTV?), Honda Dominator, XR400. Or maybe a NICE Cx Euro for £2.5k (mine is languishing). - strike that, I give mine to a shop and say come back in £1500 time.

Enfield Interceptor looks nice, but surprising long stretch to the bars (I’m 6’ tall).

Discussing bike histories the other day, the bike that was most fun WHEN IT WORKED was TDR250. Really opened my eyes after getting off T140. The two together would be a great garage full, but I’m not sure Igave the skills to keep TDR running, or out of hedges...

Oldtimer, I think if I had only the Bullet, I'd swap for the two bikes you have now!
