Cool little 250rs
« on: September 28, 2014, 03:30:55 PM »
Just got back from a good ride around the Yorkshire dales with big bro and a couple o pals, had a cracking run and pulled into devils bridge near Kirkby Lonsdale . Stood having a brew surrounded by plastic missiles when we heard the throb of a little single, turned round to see a cracking little 250rs complete with oil cooler and high rise street scrambler type zorst system oh and an ft500 front disc and calliper . Turns out the lad had built it with his dad, the motor had a wiseco piston and hot cam lovely little thing it was. Unfortunately I did,nt manage to get a photo. Just thought I,d share it with you all. Oh and the dad had a lovely tony rutter  style f1 Ducati. Nice blokes and enjoyed chatting to them, so if you are out there in thumper land drop us a line.  Cheers Michael

Hello Michael, Met you on Sunday at Devil`s Bridge, my son was on the rs250 and I was on the Ducati TT2. It was really nice to meet you all, and now I have joined the Thumper club. On the motor way on the way home the rs250 was toddling along at 85mph,and my son is 16 stone and a baggy oversuit, so It goes well, I think  it has 8 teeth off the rear sprocket and 1 on the front, my son has done all the work on it ,engine tuning paint work etc and he is a joiner not a mechanic, I have given him training since he was 5or 6 The Ducati took me 4years of my spare time to build, I machined every alloy component from solid apart from the engine , yokes,  footrests, fuel filler master cylinder, levers, etc  etc and the paintwork ( I am a toomaker) that was 25 years ago. My 2 sons have raced it I have raced it, it has been so so reliable, been round the TT loads of times, and most race circuits in england. Has some of Rutter`s 84 engine and clutch parts. It is perfect for modern roads.and I am not getting any younger. I wrote a reply this morning to thank you for your kindwords about our bikes at Devil`s but it did`nt seem to go, so I am trying again.Your XBR is abit tasty too, very nice. Hope this reply gets to you Regards Darrell.

Good evening Darrell
Your welcome, the little rs was the best bike in a plastic missile infested crowd (apart from a certain XBR cafe racer :)) and I felt it deserved a quick mention , did your son make the exhaust ? Felt it really set the bike off and was a nice touch away from the standard system. If you and your son fancy meeting up at any point just let me know and we can sort something out and maybe go for a blast around the dales or where ever. You can e mail me direct through this site or just pop another post up, I usually log on most days. Regards Michael
