hi lads hope everyone is well and had a good biking summer i.m looking for a bit of advice here please , strongly thinking of getting a royal enfield 650 interceptor I don't know of anyone having one and any pit falls with them they seem to get good reviews and info on them many thanks tommy
-
Morning Tommy, Martin (xbally) is ya man. He's had one for a few months now. You could possibly Email him via this site? As far as I'm aware he likes it 👍... cheers, Michael
-
I test rode one and loved it, the main reason I didn`t get one and went for a classic was because it was too fast, I wouldn`t have been able to restrain myself ! Seat height good, brakes good, Three years warranty not two like all other enfields. Go on...
-
Yep had mine since May and have put a 1000 miles on it as I don't go out unless it's likely to be dry. It's all good. There's nothing I don't like about it. No fuelling issues whatsoever unlike some other modern injected bikes I've had (my KTM690 Duke was terrible). Some people go on about hitting their shins on the footrests but although it happens to me from time to time i don't consider it a problem really. *itchcocks are already doing lots of upgrades-loud exhausts, free flowing air filter etc but mine remains resolutely standard at the moment as I'm too tight to buy upgrades until I've got some value out of the standard equipment.Handling , brakes ,finish is all brilliant for the money. The price is very good compared to some of the competition. Build quality again seems very good for the money. I do pamper mine though. The only minor criticisms are the weight which is not excessive but as I get older it's become more of an issue. When i was much younger I didn't even think about such things but I do now. It's probably no heavier and likely to be lighter than the competition. Picking flies it could do with a clock to bring it into the modern world but otherwise nothing. It's a 270 degree crank so feels more like a V twin in a good way - very similar bike to the V7 Guzzi I sold to Michael 12 moths ago and as god IMHO. I'd say GO FOR IT but do take test ride beforehand.Good luck. Martin
-
Blimey Martin with that appraisal you've got me sold.... want to buy a moto guzzi V7 ? 🤣🤣👍
Glad you're enjoying it tho, really do sound like great value for money. Cheers. Michael
-
Yes Michael, in my mind (and I could well be wrong here ) they are very similar bikes. You could do a lot worse than trying one if you're ready for a change.
-
Evening Martin, I didn't realise they were 270 degree crank. Bet they sound nice with a "fruity " pipe on.... really got me thinking now. Just don't tell the wife 🤐😁
-
270° crank seems to be the way a few twin manufacturers seem to be going. (Triumph, Yamaha, RE, Honda. This video explained the advantages pretty clearly (to me anyway!). Apologies if you have seen this before.
-
I have a test ride booked for Saturday morning looking forward to it let you know what I think of my first ever ride on a enfield
-
And then you have the alternative! ;)

I know it's .........., but beggars can't be choosers and they are beautifully made. :-*
My regards, Bill

How did the test ride go Tommy? 🤔
-
beautiful morning for a road test perfect conditions ,I got the orange crush coloured model to drive ,its a beautiful looking bike with a good standard of finish ,the only gripe I had just looking at the bike was the seat its just a flat seat no shape at all ,,so on I get the seat feels hard (but its a new bike so this might bed in a bit ) and the bars a to far forward (easy sorted)at first I felt if as I was sitting up to high on the bike and the seat could do with been dropped a few mill ,but I kinda got used to it after a few miles ,also I had to go for a gear a second time now and then as there seem to be a bit to much play in the gear linkage and the rear shocks needed adjustment (again easy to sort ) so that's the bad news good news the ride the brakes are fantastic there a company of Brembo making them, handling is really nice and sure footed I think harris were involved in the design of the frame, the motor is only 47bhp but its really torque and smooth its pulls really well and on the country roads I drove on it was fantastic and fine on a bit of motorway too It sounded really nice on its original pipes ,to be honest I am really amazed how good a bike this is for the price ,this bike would do anything no problem I reckon a sunday spin a bit of touring or a day to day o theres also plenty of room for a passenger. a few of my bikes are looking worried in the shed tonight as I think I will be selling some soon and I might go for the enfield ;D.when I got back from that test drive I got a go on a brand new z900 café racer wow nice thanks to ray a bikeworld Dublin for the test bike tommy
-
Sounds promising then Tommy. GO ON, GO ON...you know you NEED one 😉😉👍
Keep us posted.. cheers, Michael
-
Great review of a beautiful bike - thanks for the insight. Which of your bikes are the most worried ;D !?
-
ha not sure whats gonna go but I will get a enfield its a beautiful machine one thing I meant to say in that review was when I was looking at the bike I was thinking that the wheels and forks would be a nice transplant on to a xbr or some other thumper I wonder what kind of money the sell for tommy

Only just seen this. I've had my Interceptor for 7 months now and done more than 6000 miles. It's a lovely bike. Made a start on some mods now, and put some new tyres on ready for the winter.
The Tracer is hardly getting a look in now. All the miles are going on the Interceptor. Lovely bike to ride and dead easy to get along with. Uses no oil and does 70mpg easily. 6000 mile service cost £135.
Highly recommended.

I've left mine standard. I think they sound really good. Changed the air filter for a better induction noise.
-
yes tj63 the filter and the cover a tiny did the new filter make much difference

P'rhaps not! :-\
Regards, Bill
-
Yes I've seen this one before Bill, I really like it apart from the silly front tyre...
-
yes tj63 the filter and the cover a tiny did the new filter make much difference
Yes it did. It picks up a bit quicker and the noise it makes is really addictive.
-
thanks trevor ,do you have the standard cans on the bike tommy
-
Yes, still the standard cans. I've replaced the back light, indicators and levers and also put a metal chain guard on it.
That's probably all I'm doing for now.
Trevor
-
the back light and indicators look crap what taillight did you use I think tec bike parts are going to be doing a neat tail light for the 650
-
I've got the same tail light as on Tec bike parts, but I didn't buy it from them. I found it on eBay. I did get the filter kit, levers and chain guard from Tec. All good kit. I especially like the levers.
-
:D only a couple of weeks left till I get mine cant wait tommy
-
The distraction and/or boozing of Christmas & New Year should ease the suffering... ;D
-
The standard bike is pretty good anyway for the price. I am going to modify mine when funds allow but in the meantime am more than happy with it.
-
:D :D paying the balance tomorrow as my bike is in just needs a reg and plate
tommy

Great isn't it-you've got a brand new bike but can't ride due to weather. When I took delivery of mine in May it was spotting with rain.Be patient-there will be some dry weather soon(ish)-well it is the middle of winter!

Totally get that!New bikes for me are few and far between as well.Had a Fizzie at 16 in '73,Z750 twin in '76 at 18 on HP with mother signing as guarantor because I was in 6th Form, GS1000 at 20 in '78 and then a Thundercat at 40 in '97 followed by a Guzzi 1100 Griso at 50 in 2007-then the Enfield last year belated for 60th!Always feel lucky to have a new bike no PO has messed about with although I also love getting a good second hand bargain!
-
Guzzi Griso? Lovely! Tell me more...

cheers bill all the best for 2020 tommy
-
Guzzi Griso? Lovely! Tell me more...What do you want to know Matt? They were flogging off the 2 valve 1100s when the 4 valve 1200's came out. I traded in a 1100 Sport which had poor fuel injection. The 4 valvers turned out to have "issues". The 1100 Griso was a great bike but for me on the heavy side so I reluctantly sold it after not many miles-can't remember what I got afterwards. A dealer came up from Silverstone and gave me cash as it was virtually brand new.
-
managed to do 200 hundred miles over the weekend its a lovely bike need to get it run in first before I mess with it a little ,tommy
-
;D
Just needed a sail yesterday! ;)
