Title: Thumper Club merchandise
Post by: timbo on May 31, 2016, 11:17:46 PM
This all sounds very capitalist, but after the success of the Shepherds Rest 2016 stickers, which are now obviously collectors items, I was thinking of getting some other stuff done. What I can assure you all, is that anything I do sort out will be definitely sold at cost, as I am a Not For Profit Org as far as this forum is concerned. So I'll keep it simple, so what about a general Thumper Club  piston logo sticker for your bike? And maybe a woolly hat, with the piston log on it? I am absolutely open to suggestions.

How about our own T-shirt wording to go below your piston logo, Tim?

My suggestion;

"Proud Owners of High Torque, Low Tech Motorcycles"

Or, for Steve#222,

"May The Torque Be With You"

Morning Tim. Great idea and yes I'd defo av a few stickers and a wooly hat, may I suggest that instead of it being a total non profit making venture that a small profit be made and say donated to the air ambulance services up and down the country. Oh and obviously Ireland and the IOM. Just a thought and one that I realise is a tad biased :) :) although I'm sure that most of us wouldn't mind paying an extra pound for something if we knew that pound was going to something like the air ambulance service.
Keep us posted and put me down for those stickers and a wooly hat (for starters)
Cheers..Michael

Hi Tim,

I'm in too!

Wooley hat, stickers and a Tee shirt would be great.

Profits to Air ambulance services sounds good too.

No problem guys, I'll get some general stickers done, and some for the rally, at £1 a go. Beanies will be £6, and id love to do the suck, squeeze, bang, blow t shirts. Has anyone an old one they could post a pic of?
Will have the stuff done for our rally in early July  :)

On account of my wife been born in the wrong month and the fact I like my bits as they are I will not be able to be there  :(

Any chance of a sticker in the post if I do postage costs and paypal (or a cheque and SAE if old schoole works)

I'll rummage for a piccie of GC or Jethro in a SQBB shirt. Might even be able to get it into a image file via corel draw.

Andy

Yes, it would be great Andy if you could post a pic of the old T-shirt   :)
Have we any preference on a colour. White lasts about five minutes before its bogging, and black is boring. I love khaki, but that's just my fetish  :-\

Morning chaps, I know I don't go to the TC rallies so I totally understand that my opinion on the t shirt colour doesn't carry any clout, however I'm with Steve on this one bright orange sounds good. Be seen, be safe I say :) :) ;). I'll put my order in for one now please,(only if they're orange tho ;))  any idea how much they'll be Tim??
Cheers. Michael

lol, speaking of merchandise, when we did stafford last year, graham kindly gave us a club tee shirt for the stand, great (any free shirt is great!) but theyre orange, and i mean the orangiest orange that you ever did see. but, good quality shirts, albeit a little loud. anyhow, last month when i went to dublin the first time, we were ready to go out and i open my bag to get changed, the mrs said that she had got me a tee shirt ready to wear, and i saw the thumper club shirt on the pile. hmmm, a night out drinking in dublin, wearing the brightest orange tee shirt in creation,,,,, i figured that id be better off with something nondescript and black..... lol....

The problem I have is every T shirt I have, every shirt I have, every mirror I have, make me look fat  :o so any colour that disguises this would be greatly appreciated  ;)

If you are a Guinness drinker don't ever drink it if you go to Ireland because if you do, afterwards the stuff over here will taste like 5**T!!! I recall a night in Slatterys on Capel Street Dublin drinking Guinness and listening to half of the Chieftains at a benefit gig...Magic!!

I can at most ever face a single glass of "English" Guiness. The Dublin (also Liverpool) variety I csn cheerfully drink to excess*

*for those of a delicate dispositon do not read this. At University a fellow student and myself aquired a large amount of Murphys at a very good price on account of it being rather past its best. I drank something like 12 cans with no ill effects until about five days later when the restrictive qualities became apparent. I can appreciate womens fears of giving birth as I then became, after a suitably painful "labour",  the not so proud father of something resembling a bowling ball. My fellow drinker produced a cannon ball after a week courtesy of herbal assistance from the NHS. I am since rather loath to drink more than three or four  :o

Apologies

Andy

Ouch! In the interests of balance, I can offer the tale of our annual student pilgrimage from N Wales to Norfolk Broads. One year, someone brought with him a "centrepiece" for the cruiser - a barrel of Pedigree. Since the only thing anyone was able to cook was Chile con carne, the combination of this, together with the continually shaken Pedigree made for toilet roll in fridge scenario, to be taken into the chemical toilet, once you reached the head of the queue...

You can pull your stomach in better in black, I also like khaki but it's not very sporty for the SRX/XBR boys.

Hi Tim,

I've managed to find a picture of the SSBB t shirt from an old TC magazine. Not very good but you get the idea.

Engine is a cutaway SRX diagram and logo is the old TC green/orange piston logo.

Hmmm....having now had a look at the actual T's I think I'm going to retract my opinion on the colour. Gotta say I really like the black one with the piston design logo on the front. I'd defo be ordering one of them up.

Great work folks. I can definitely do something with all this info, so leave it with me. Unfortuneatly the green/white/orange colour combo doesn't work for us NI fellas, nor does red/white/blue, for that matter  :-\
But I will definitely do something around our piston logo, and SSBB. It won't be a rally special, but a general TC T-shirt. So, I will get one done if possible, post it on here, and then take orders. Beanies and stickers, won't be a problem   ;)
I also am liking the phrase, "single cylinder riders club", as that says it all simply.

Just a point of thought and in recognition of all the hard work done by said person, but has anyone asked GC (Onepot) for his thoughts on all of this.....after all if it wasn't for him there just wouldn't be a Thumperclub right now.....

Here, here...yes well done that man for sorting it all out. Although I did quite fancy the idea of the red, white n blue colour scheme Tim  ;) ;)
Yes I also hear what Ian is saying but I'm sure Graham wouldn't mind so long as it promotes the TC??
Looking forward to putting my order in when they're ready

Hi Thumper fan (old and new)
What a trip down memory lane this post has been. In my heyday, along with Graham, I was responsible for producing a number of Thumper Club promotional items. I remember hand screen printing the first batch of black t-shirts with the roundel piston logo in my kitchen; what a mess but adding plenty of opaque white poster paint seemed to make the print long lived. I wonder if there are any of those still in existence as mine went into the rag box long ago? I also remember spending a good few hours lazer cutting the orange TC key rings that Timbo mentions but sadly I don't have one anymore. Again I wonder how many of those have survived the intervening ten years or so?

I've attached a couple of pictures of TC stuff I still have with me here in Qatar. The first is a prototype 'suck, squeeze, bang, blow' mug I was hoping to produce myself (working in an Art & Design Dept had its uses) but never got further than a half dozen. Mine, which might be the only one in existence now, has been through the dish washer weekly for the past ten years and is starting to show serious signs of wear. The second picture shows the range of other merchandise we produced. The patch and enameled piston badge were designed by Graham's wife Sue; the enameled badge being a 'best seller' that required a second run.

If there are any new promotional items I would certainly be interested in getting hold of some; especially a couple of t-shirts to show my continued support.

Yours, mostly in spirit, these days
Boyd

PS if the images don't copy I'll think of another way to post them

So I'm getting a good quality T-shirt done in charcoal grey, at £11, beanie hat in black at £8, and a general sticker at £1, and a sticker for the rally at £1.
I will post pics once they're done, and then you can all place your orders.
All profits will be getting split between NI air ambulance, and the Akita dog rescue that my mrs,  Alison runs, with a small group of dedicated volunteers, Harley D. Bear, on facebook. (That was the deal, as she did all the IT design work for the merchandise)  ;)

Hi Bill
It's sure been a while since I've posted anything but I usually have a gander at the forum fairly regularly. Reading the forum certainly makes me envious as the bike scene here in Qatar is non-existent with only a few wannabe Angels cruising the seafront on a Saturday, and then only through the Winter months as the Summer temps are way too high 40C+. The landscape and roads are also pretty anonymous as well; flat and barren with the highest point only 103mts. That said the work has done us both proud and is now enabling us to move on again, this time to East Asia possibly Shanghai. It certainly has been an adventure. When we eventually get to our final destination, Perth WA late 2017, getting another bike will be a priority; until then I'll just have to keep the dream alive vicariously!

Hope you and yours are doing well, and maybe we'll meet up on some dusty road somewhere...

Cheers
Boyd

Hi Boyd, great to see you on the forum. You are certainly missed by all in Thumper land  ;)
Are you planning anymore group trips, similar to your Vietnam trip?
Title: Re: Thumper Club merchandise
Post by: themoudie on June 14, 2016, 11:15:56 PM
Aye Boyd,

Having totaly hijacked the clothing thread for a 'catchup' and a publicity shot for a potential motorcycling tour guide operation in Shanghai, I apologies to all other Thumpeteers, and ask if you have heard from KurtWA from the city of Perth? Seeing as this is your aspirational destination.

Delighted with the positives so far and hope it continues for you both. Nae bad at this end, with a gradual change into the "Please yursel' way of living!"  ;)

As for the "dusty roads" we have had them aplenty in the past 3 - 4 weeks, but this has now changed over the past weekend and we have adopted the SE Asian or Indian monsoon climate!  :(  However, ours arrives on a cool wind from Spitzbergen and not a warm wind from the Indian Ocean. Ruddy jetstream and El Ninio playing hide and seek!

All the best, Bill
