Aye tevie54,

Simple answer, "No!"

I would have suggested Wiseco pistons, but it appears they have none in stock for the XR500 at present. However, a telephone call to Eastwood Racing, who are the Wiseco agents in the UK, might prove useful.

Hope this is of use, Bill

Thanks Bill but I already have a Wiseco piston and I wasn't too impressed, I followed the machining instructions but it always ran hot and eventually nipped up and I've since read that XL/XRs don't like Wisecos and some American dirt bike sites call them seizecos.
I've decided that standard compression is probably for the best after all and any tuning is best left to carb and exhaust mods, I think I'll just have to accept that an RS250 fitted with a tuned XR500 engine is always going to be limited by its chassis and even a standard engine is going to make the bike a much more lively machine than one with a standard 250 engine

Aye tevie54,

Brevity of the piston below the lower piston ring land maybe a problem with the Wiseco!  :-\

have you seen these pistons? Fleabay Lot No.:292361233181

Maybe worth a conversation with the supplier of these Wossner pistons.

I agree that going back to 'standard' compression, with just a clean up of the ports would be the way to go for a wee road RS250. Keep the power in the mid rev range rather than up in the stratosphere, you'll be able to enjoy it and pop out of those corners, like a champagne cork!  ;D

All the best, Bill
