Hello Thumpeteers,

Am just after reading a post on the Dutch Monoconnection Forum. Monoconnection Rally 2018 will take place on the first weekend of September. Must be the 26th year running of the event. Same venue as every year, Camping de Kluft in Ossenzijl, which is roughly a 2 hour spin from Hook of Holland or Rotterdam ferry ports. Campsite is first class, all mod cons. Holiday chalets and limited number of hotel rooms also available on the site but are best booked in advance. Organizing committee led by Sjak and Lambert run their own bar in function room, drinks very reasonably priced. Live music on Saturday night.

Visitor numbers were a bit down last year, possibly a lot to do with the monsoon like weather conditions, I got absolutely p*ssed on both on Friday on the way up and it was even worse on the Monday travelling back to Ireland. I have not decided yet whether or not I will undertake this sentimental journey to my homeland this year because Holland seems to be drifting further and further west each year  ;D  Anyway, I thought I give it a mention here because I know the likes of Steve D, Steve H, Dave & Pat and Mart were regular visitors in recent years and I know Sjak and Lambert are always delighted to welcome visitors from the UK.

All the best,

Rene

Just been looking at the ferry prices from Hull. £297!

Ouch.

Any advice, SteveD?

I'm unable to make it either. I've got a 12 hour shift on an ambulance first thing on the Monday morning. Hope it's a good weekend.
