Joolz, will the slight flattening of the hose still allow sufficient venting? It's not kinked like a garden hose when there's no flow at all. I have no idea about tolerances. Please swipe/drag pic to the left to see it all. Must get an app to allow me to resize.
Here's another small mod I copied (from an LS650) to see how it goes before reinstalling onethecheap's original decompression setup. I might keep it if doesn't get too hot ( or melt!) as I prefer to avoid cabling where I can. I also prefer manual to automatic operation in general, when possible.

That hose should be ok, it doesnt matter too much if its a bit flattened as long as the air can escape ok. I have a similar decompressor mod, manual control is always best

Hopefully today, but just a few miles to set the oil level after the oil & filter change. Lovely day here 14 deg C! I'll post after a decent ride to update you, but I think my main loss is coming out at the uppermost valve cover bolt, so I think I'm right in saying the revised breather setup won't affect this?

It should stop most of that oil leak, look forward to hearing how the ride went. Have fun

Ride was today. Only 20 miles, but keeping it mostly between 4 and 6k and occasionally above that to overtake. No signs of oil from the top rocker cover bolt, so I reckon you've provided me with a permanent fix, Joolz, for which I'm very grateful.

Finally got around to fitting the one way breather valve - delayed as the original company I ordered the valve from deciced they couldn't supply it after 10 days and refunded the money
- Ebay delivered in 3 days!
I've gone down a slightly different route to Matt & Joolz as I wanted to try and keep the bike as original as possible by retaining the original breather hose and catch tank. I've just cut the old breather pipe and plumbed the valve straight in.

Does the use of such a valve to lower the crankcase pressure have any impact on oil Flow? Does this tend to suck the engine oil out of the pipes when the engine is stopped? If it does this, is it a bad thing? I recall some discussions in which some have reported problems getting oil to flow after oil changes (pipes emptied).

welland99 I havent found that to be a problem although I did worry about it myself at first, but there is only a vacuum when the engine is running, the second the engine stops its not there
