Help finding Colours
« on: August 27, 2015, 01:10:18 AM »
I have a 1988 xbr and want some touch-up paint and I have been given two colours to choose from but I don't know which. Both are the red colours with different names, codes No 104 & 106 but don't know which one to choose. My colour is the dark maroon. Any suggestions?

If it's a Burgundy one like mine  - actually 'Muse Red Pearlescent' then the paint code on my bike is R-104C-U.

Paint code is on the frame top rail under the seat if you haven't had the frame resprayed.

There is nowt on the top rails under the seat. I don't believe it has been resprayed at anytime.
The colours I have been given are R124 Candy Alamoana Red & R104 Candy Muse Red

I think I have found the colour.
R104 Candy Muse Red is the Burgundy one the one I want.
R124 Candy Alamoana Red is the signal red colour

Next anyone know where to get this in a touch up pen as I do not feel like forking out £20+ for aerosols of which 90% will be wasted.

The only touch up I've seen in the proper Honda colours are those £20 aerosols BUT depending on where you are touching up there might be an alternative.  If you are just touching up a small scratch or chips you want to look at Halfords for their 'Vauxhall Rubens Red pearlescent' stone chip & scratch repair kit. I bought one a few years ago and it was about £8-10. It isn't quite an exact match, but it is very damn close and if it is in an inconspicuous place I doubt you'd notice.

If this will do the trick but they no longer sell it, let me know and I'll lend you kit if you want.

It's a bottle & fine brush kit not an aerosol.

When I was looking for paint for my old one, I found "RS Bike Paints" http://www.rsbikepaint.com/en-gb/colours.php Don`t know if this is any help but there is a "touch up" on there for £8-00? Good luck, cheers  ;)

Given the bikes age the original shade is probably not going to match, any decent car paint shop should be able to mix the colour for you given something with the right colour on it. Most places will also do a touch up pot or an aerosol.

Just had a look, it won't let you check out unless you also buy the laquer cote which, for 25ml of paint , laquer, vat and postage coming to about £25 :-\

I am going to try SteveC#222 idea of a Vauxhall touch up paint. I have just ordered a small tub for £4.25 from Declan Masterson, wilson lendrum & weir ltd, 13 DERRYCHARA LINK, ENNISKILLEN, UK, Fermanagh, bt94 6JF from  eBay item Number 290774480804
Not a lot to loose if not the right colour.
