Would bank on an engine rebuild but 61 horses is "quite respectable".  Set up may be a bit tricky, but there's quite a lot of money has been spent on that I'd think...

Will keep half an eye on it- not sure I need another!!

I suspect if the 'slug' is reciprocating as fast as I think it might be, it'll need all the breathing it can get to prevent the well known dribble from between the exhaust pipes or your 'lifted' head syndrome!

Following a self depracating and niave question to Pete, the purveyor of the old warhorse, I paste his reply to me in full below.

I should add, SteveL, that you should receive the 'Observers Book of Motorcycles' for the initial observation. No doubt you'll now implement the mod, as will Andy230. Such is paddock life!

"Hi Bill, well done, you are absolutely correct! The best place to take air away is where there isn't too much oil ( middle of the crank). The air then goes through a labyrinth breather so any oil can drain back down into the crankcase.

Personally, i think the srx engine breathes well anyway, and not ever seen that particular mod on any race tuned srx before...but i'm an innocent abroad......and relieving as much crankcase pressure as possible improves output power and all round longevity of the engine there's no doubt
