I am sure that he will be tempted but the question should be will he resist temptation or give in?.

Can you imagine how much fun that would be on a Daytime MOT?

If you think that's a good engine/frame mixture, check out this twin:

Wassat??  XS650 in SZR??  I like it!  Ok, so its not a Norton, but it would be interesting!!

And yes, I can be tempted, but no more bikes in the garage would not be a good idea.  They all need work don't they?!  I mean, not all the time, but there is significant investment, time and money.  I have neither, so its the SRX (and maybe SteveL's?  -could be better) for next season.

Am having a wee spot of bother getting the fairing on.  I think its RS125, tho it seems a bit big for that.  It was originally on the skorpion...  just what was lying around.  However, its proving to be a bit of a pain in the teats.

I need to fabricate brackets.  And I'm really ham fisted!  So the plan is to make em out of MDF, to fit onto brackets which I've screwed into the headstock - sounds like a bodge?  It is.

Then I need to hang the fairing (i think) to see about steering lock, clearance for the rear of the front wheel, and to allow for fork compression.  So the brackets have to be adjustable initially.  Then I'll have to look at R-clips and things to secure it.  Then fabricate real brackets, probably from angle ally, pop rivitted.  Moto Gp this is not!!!

Better than last season, tho.  I was going to say slow but sure, but maybe its just slow!  Glad I've got till april!

Andy if you fabricate some bolted up brackets I can weld them up for you.

Steve

p.s Its not SZR, my guess is 600 Thundercat or similiar. Seat looks a little uncomfortable

MDF faring berackets - haaa used to have a lump of wood hammered into the RD500 footrest hanger as a lock nut - was an emergency bodge on the IOM, to the best of my knowledge it is still there and still working - mind could fail MoT on woodworm.  MDF brackets sound fine.  HOWEVER - remember that if you throw the bike up the track and the bracket wears down you need a particle filter mask incase of carcinogenic binding agents...

Best of luck, oh and the 650 twin thing looks great.

Oh and the original single - this is the kind of thing that inspired the TZRotax growing in the shed

Mmmm looking at the 650 - I think my baler twine engine mount trumps their tie-down strap mount - ?

somewhere on you-tube there's a bloke on a bsa a65 motor in a sportsbike chassis. at least with a fairing around a brit engine all the parts are retained when it all lets go!
can't think how strange it would look seeing a bloke kickstart what seems to be an R1.
